About Mission Statement Nativity of our Lord is a vibrant Catholic community committed to helping each person answer the call of Jesus Christ to serve as his disciple by nurturing a rich sacramental and spiritual life, supporting strong Catholic education and faith formation, fostering fellowship and community, and providing abundant opportunities to participate in the parish’s long tradition of Christian witness. In case you missed it, our pastor Fr. Patrick Hipwell announced our new parish mission statement in his “From The Hip” column earlier this month, now available at https://nativity-mn.org/news/mission-statement/.
Holy Orders Priesthood Sunday - Sunday, September 29 Next Sunday is a special day set aside to honor the priests of the United States. We are invited to reflect upon the gift of the priesthood and affirm those who have answered the call to serve the Church. We would like to take the opportunity to thank Fr. Patrick Hipwell, our pastor, and Fr. Nick Hagen, our parochial vicar, as well as all who currently serve us upon request and those who have served us in the past. Baskets and note paper will be provided in the back of church and we invite you to utilize them for your personal messages. Please join us as we honor our priests next Sunday!

Respect Life 40 Days for Life Potluck Kickoff - Wednesday, Sept. 25, 5pm The 40 Days for Life Fall Campaign begins this Wednesday, September 25. We invite you to join for any or all of the kick-off activities. Families with little ones in strollers are especially encouraged to come in the morning (any time from 7am-noon) for peaceful prayer in front of Planned Parenthood. This is a safe activity, as there will be many people present on Wednesday. The little ones are especially powerful witnesses. On Wednesday evening, we will join with neighboring parishes for a potluck to kick off the campaign in the Community Room on the lower level of Saint Mark's church from 5-7 pm, followed by the Opening Prayer Rally Candlelight Vigil, sponsored by Pro-Life Action Ministries, in front of Planned Parenthood at 7pm. We have adopted two days of prayer: Wednesday, October 2 and Tuesday, October 22. Our goal is to have a minimum of two prayer witnesses signed up each hour from 6am-6pm, both days. In addition, we will have pastor-led prayer with Father Humberto and other members of PES in front of Planned Parenthood starting at 1pm on Sunday, October 6. To sign up for an hour or more of prayer, visit www.tiny.cc/fall40days2019. To find out more about and join in this important lifesaving effort, visit https://40daysforlife.com/ or contact Karen McCann at (612) 964-4522 or [email protected]. Be a part of our community's peaceful and prayerful efforts to end abortion!

Join us for Mass at 8:15am with the parish in the church if you’re able, and then downstairs for the program. Contact Lilee Perera at (651) 414-9367 with any questions.
Dear Nativity School & Parish Families,
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude for the over 1000 volunteers who helped make
the 2019 Nativity County Fair a great success. We give special thanks to Father Patrick Hipwell,
Father Nick Hagen, Principal Kate Wollan and Assistant Principal Sandy Kane for their
unwavering support and encouragement. The theme of Home was woven into the NCF
weekend through the new Alumni tent, the thoughtful decorations representing the nurturing
Nativity family, Deacon Don’s “Coming Home” homily at the outdoor mass and everyone
working together to make it all happen.
We are so grateful for the overwhelmingly generous support of the live and silent auctions and
Fund-A-Need. Our gratitude is echoed in the classrooms where families who seek an education
for their children at Nativity School can receive the financial support needed to be a part of this
incredible community. We thank the entire school and parish staff, and our many generous
sponsors and donors who share their time, talents and treasures to keep this amazing Nativity
tradition thriving year after year.
We would especially like to thank the 2019 Steering Committee and their families for their
sacrifice and commitment to making the Nativity County Fair an amazing success. Steve and
Mary Jo Katras, Patrick and Rebecca Martin, Esther Sobocinski, Megan and Joe Jacobson, Jamie
and Andy Omann, Casey and Tom Stephens, Jeff and Connie Shea, and Chairs Emeritus Claire
and Steve Noble, Sheryl and Mark Sheehan...we could not have done it without this incredible
team!
To all who came out and supported the Fair by riding the ferris wheel, buying a sandwich,
playing a midway game, or enjoying the entertainment on the main stage...
WE THANK YOU for making the 45th Nativity County Fair a successful and joy-filled WELCOME
HOME event!
With so much gratitude,
2019 Nativity County Fair Chairs Tom & Mary Ek Bridget McConville & Matt Mundy

Online Formation FORMED Pick of the Week - Sunday, September 22 Is the Bible more than just a collection of ancient writings, more than simply an important historical document to be appreciated but ultimately dismissed? This week, visit http://nativitystpaul.formed.org, watch Symbolon: Knowing the Faith, Episode 3., and be FORMED!
Service Catholic Tutors Corps at Mass - September 21-22 The Catholic Tutor Corps (CTC) has been providing volunteer tutors to Minneapolis and St. Paul Catholic schools for 18 years. The tutors, working one-on-one in grades 1-8, have become an increasingly important resource for these schools and the demand for more tutors continues to grow. We are now recruiting tutors to assist us this school year. The schools we serve have predominately low income and minority populations. We have needs for tutors at three schools close to the Nativity of Our Lord Community: St. Peter Claver, St. Jerome, and St. Pascal of Baylon. Please consider volunteering a couple of hours a week to share your knowledge with some young students. If you are interested, contact Richard McGuire, President, at (612) 360-0677 or [email protected], visit www.catholictutorcorps.com, or stop by our table at Mass this weekend, September 21-22.
Charity & Justice World Day of Migrants & Refugees - Sunday, September 29 One Body is a group of Catholic parishes committed to addressing the crisis facing immigrant families in our church and in Minnesota. On the weekend of September 29, we celebrate World Day of Migrants and Refugees. Nativity of Our Lord parishioners will be available after Mass to let you know how you can be involved. Please stop by and receive a copy of Pope Francis' Message for World Day of Migrants and Refugees. Visit www.isaiahmn.org/onebody for more information.
