The children from Year 6 were pitching their speed and stamina against children from eleven different schools across the area. The competition involved tasks of running, jumping, throwing and a relay race too. From the outset, the Perranporth team showed real strength and skill. This fine form continued throughout the afternoon with our children managing high places in their individual events. The results came through later this week and we’re very proud to say that the team came away with an emphatic victo- ry and won the event by a very large margin. We now wait to here news of the next round. A enormous well done to the team! Parent’s Meetings A reminder that Parent Meeting Evenings are scheduled for Mon 11th Nov and Wed 13th Nov. Please return forms to your child’s class teacher to arrange an appointment. Thank you. Pendennis Castle This week, the children from Years 1 and 2 made the trip to Pendennis Castle to help them get some first hand ex- periences for their topic learning. Everyone had a marvellous day and learned a huge amount about the castle and its’ history. The children came back to school simply buzzing with ideas and inspiration for their project work. Thank you so much to the parents that came along to support. World Kindness Day Some of you may remember that last year we recognised World Kindness Day. This came to us due to a fantastic idea shared by Erin in Y3. Erin made a request that on this day, all of the chil- dren share a kind word or two about another pupil. It was a great success last year and we’re keen to mark the day again this year. So, next Wednesday 13th November, every child will write or say a kind thing to another child and receive one in return. We all know that saying kind things to others helps us feel happy and receiving them does too. Therefore we’re sure to have a lot of happy children in Perranporth feeling very good about themselves on World Kindness Day next week! Thanks Erin for such a great suggestion! FOPS Meeting There is a FOPS meeting scheduled for next Friday 15th November straight after morning drop off in the school Library. New members are always welcome, so please feel free to come along. School Photos Please ensure that all school photo orders are back into school by Wednesday 13th November.

World Kindness Day

Some of you may remember that last year we recognised World Kindness Day. This came to us

due to a fantastic idea shared by Erin in Y3. Erin made a request that on this day, all of the chil-

dren share a kind word or two about another pupil. It was a great success last year and we’re

keen to mark the day again this year. So, next Wednesday 13th November, every child will write

or say a kind thing to another child and receive one in return. We all know that saying kind

things to others helps us feel happy and receiving them does too. Therefore we’re sure to have a

lot of happy children in Perranporth feeling very good about themselves on World Kindness Day next week! Thanks

Erin for such a great suggestion!

Homeless Shoebox Appeal

At our School Parliament meeting this week the children felt very strongly that

they would like the families of Perranporth School to support a local appeal in aid

of homeless people in Cornwall at Christmas time. The Homeless Shoebox Appeal

is an opportunity for us to give a little thought to those less fortunate at this time of

year. By preparing a shoebox or bag with some essential items (hats, scarf, tooth

paste, torch jumpers etc), a huge difference could be made to someone’s Christ-

mas. The children have suggested that if families would like to prepare a shoebox,

these can be dropped at the parent waiting shelter before Friday 13th Dec when

Mrs Wordly, who very thoughtfully suggested the idea, will transport them to the

distribution centre. For more details on the appeal please follow this link: https://

www.facebook.com/groups/shoeboxappealwestcornwall/

Friday 15th Nov - Children in Need Day

Next Friday 15th Nov, we will be recognising Children in Need. The School Parliament have

requested that children come to school dressed in their pyjamas or nightwear for the day

with a £1 donation to this very worthy charity! If children want to embrace the spotty theme

this is also fine! We’re looking forward to an exciting day next week!
