Owner Glenn Scharnhorst serves the Lewis-Clark Valley and the surrounding area by offering asphalt seal coating, parking lot striping, patching potholes, and doing highway center lines. SEALED VS. UNSEALEDProblem: Left untreated, asphalt pavement will deteriorate rapidly. The asphalt binder that

holds the pavement together begins to oxidize and weather soon after installation. Moisture penetrates the asphalt causing further damage and deterioration to the pavement.

T he roots of the Vassar family in the Lewis Clark Valley go back to 1898 with Clyde Vassar. Th e location was near the present site of the YWCA on Main Street, and later moved to the I.O.O.F. hall, east of Brackenbury Square. From 1907 - 1912, Clyde Vassar and Joseph Vassar bought a residence at 608 Main Street, where the family operated the mortuary, and later moved to

141 9th Street where it still stands. In the early 1970s, brothers John Vassar and Richard Vassar joined the business with their dad Vincent and uncle Andy. In 1975

Vassar-Rawls moved to its present location at 920 21st Avenue. In 2007, Jason M. Harwick, Jeff Seipert, and Dennis W. Hastings took over as owners and operators of the business. Jeff passed

away in 2013. Today, Vassar-Rawls Funeral Home & Crematory serves all denominations and provides complete funeral services including pre-

planning, funerals and cremation. Th e owners, Dennis Hastings and Jason Harwick, believe a properly planned ceremony or ritual can help the natural grief process from losing a loved one. Our goal is to honor a family's loved one by providing the best possible services at an aff ordable price.

M alcom's Brower-Wann Funeral Home was established in 1924 by Loren B. Wann and Eugene Brower on 1434 Main Street in Lewiston. In the 1930s, Mr. Wann purchased Mr. Brower's interest. Operations were later taken over aft er World War II by Kermit

Malcom. Aft er a fi re in 1951, the company relocated to it's present location at 1711 18th Street. In 1983, Kermit and wife Betty retired and ownership was passed to their sons, K. Michael

and William (Bill) and a son-in-law, Marsh Harwick. In 2002, Harwick retired and management was assumed by Mike and Bill. In 2005, Mike pursued other interests leaving Bill to manage the funeral home.

In 2012, the partnership of Jason M. Harwick, Jeff Seipert, and Dennis W. Hastings purchased Malcom's Brower-Wann Funeral Home from the Malcom brothers. Jeff passed away in 2013.

Customer service is everything. Every family we serve has a diff erent background and diff erent desires regarding funeral service. Our fi rst responsibility is to listen to our customers. Our goal is to provide professional service with personal attention to our many clients, among whome we include many long-time friends and neighbors. We off er understanding and thoroughness with reasonable prices and outstanding service. Malcom’s Brower-Wann

Twin RiversPHYSICAL THERAPY

725 6th Street, Suite 101, Clarkston, WA(509) 758-8510

Cheryl Lynn RuddPT, DPT, BCB-PMD

We are excited to announce an addition of physical therapist Cheryl Rudd to Twin Rivers Physical Therapy. Cheryl received her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology at Washington State University in 2000 and a Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy in 2006 from Eastern Washington University.

Ed Harkins PT, CSCSIn 1980, I married Teresa in Tacoma, WA,

nished carpenters apprenticeship in 1982 and worked as a journeyman carpenter. For 2 years I primarily built custom homes and then decided to return to college.

After attending WSU for 3 years, I was accepted to physical therapy school at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL.

I graduated in 1988 with a BS in Physical Therapy.

Cheryl has specialized training in Women’s Health Physical Therapy as well as out patient orthopedics and manual therapy. Cheryl is a highly-regarded specialist who is respected for her proven and effective techniques.

Cheryl’s hobbies include: Cycling, mud obstacle racing, y shing and enjoying outdoor activities in the Great Paci c Northwest.

Cheryl is currently accepting new patients. Please call today to make your appointment.

Come meet our staff! Our friendly professionals would

like to help you get back to doing the things you love.

We welcome new patients.

Then I worked at Shands Teaching Hospital at the University of Florida for a year before returning to Pullman, where I worked at Pullman Memorial Hospital (now Pullman Regional Hospital).

I joined Mark Cleven P.T., ATC for 9 years as a partner at Pullman Sport P.T. in Pullman, WA. I left there to help my wife establish her business, eventually returning to P.T. in home health, geriatric/long term care and private practice in both WA and ID.

In my 27 years experience, I have worked in orthopedics with high school, college and professional athletes and am pro cient in the use of strain-counterstrain techniques taught by the Jones Institute. They are gentle, pain free and effective on the toughest athletes and safe for the most fragile patient. These techniques are very effective in combination with traditional physical therapy to boost progress for patients. Recent advancement in facial counterstrain techniques are helping many chronically limited patients.

I am licensed in WA and ID and a Certi ed Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the NSCA.

Currently my wife of 35 years and I live in Pullman. We have a son at WSU and a daughter at University of Idaho. We all recreate in the outdoors. I enjoy hunting, shing and wood working.

Chip Wahlberg PTBorn and raised 4th generation Californian, I always

loved sports, especially water sports and snow skiing. I graduated from SDSU in 1976, moved to Missoula, Montana in 1978 working many jobs including P.T. Tech, until going to the Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles for post graduate degree in physical therapy in 1982. I then returned to Montana to work as a staff P.T. at St. Patrick’s Hospital.

An opportunity arose in 1986 to move to the beautiful Lewiston-Clarkston Valley, where I rst practiced at Valley Medical Center. Shortly thereafter, Twin Rivers Physical Therapy began. We started as a family practice, but thanks to many clients and referral

sources, the business grew. We now reside in our own building in downtown Clarkston.

My interests continue to be water sports and snow skiing, but I love the camaraderie of golf and the fantastic opportunities the rivers and the levy systems have to offer. We truly live in paradise!

I have been blessed with a great profession, wonderful staff and clients. We strive to give our clients the best of care, as well as kindness, respect and dignity. Check our website for speci c care information.

It’s very important to me and Twin River P.T. that we give back as much as possible to the community we live in.

Adcope Athletic Club is the Lewis Clark Valley’s only full-service fi tness facility, with over 22,000 square feet to meet the health and fi tness needs of our community. We’ve got everything the whole family could need to commit to be fi t, from weights to a therapeutic mineral aquatic pool, four regulation racquetball courts, baby sitting services and supervision, to spin classes, aerobic equipment, weights, indoor track and everything in between. Our goal is to give our members a true eclectic athletic club experience, with amenities like lockers, towel service, steam rooms and hot tubs, even a massage therapist. My biggest goal for the club in 2015 is to really maximize the member experience for everyone who comes to our club, and keep our programs and fi tness off erings current to meet their needs. We’re excited to be adding 3 new Les Mills Classes; BodyFlow which starts February 24th, as well as BodyCombat and Sh’Bam which will start in the spring. I’m really excited to be the GM here, I’ve got big ideas and I hope to keep Adcope at the forefront of health and fi tness in the community. I truly believe that “Commit to be Fit” is more than our tag line, it should be the personal motto of every member!

My mission as the newly selected Executive Chef at The Red Lion Hotel is to bask in the glow of entertaining family and friends with my collection of treasured recipes handpicked, hand tested, and personally selected. My culinary selection embraces the distinct flavors of the seasons, the incomparable natural beauty of the Northwest and a rich harvest of tantalizing local fare. A few of my personal bests include Fresh Homemade Lasagna, a variety of Seasonal Buffets, Fresh Pacific Northwest seafood all prepared with a deeply-felt sense of passion for quality of food, experience of dining and cherished community traditions. I believe in farm to table capturing the best of where we live such as seasonally fresh vegetables, morel mushrooms, Walla Walla sweets, troll caught salmon and on it goes. My eight years as Executive Chef at Clinkerdaggers in Spokane followed by 10 years as Executive Chef/Food and Beverage Director at Spencers for Steaks and Chops at Spokane’s Doubletree Hotel is testimony to my passion for food. As with all great food, the joy is in the sharing! ~ Chef Chet Ortman
