Transforming how we deliver the curriculum

The overall quality of attainment in literacy is outstanding.

The quality of the rich, varied learning experiences and highest quality teaching of literacy is among the best inspectors have observed.

Stimulating, creative and exciting contexts for writing promote very high standards. This was evidenced in observed lessons across the school.

Teachers take a creative approach to planning and delivering writing lessons that excite and engage all learners. Writing is never in isolation and always has relevance.

It is noteworthy how effectively children use digital technology to enhance and share learning and as a tool to lead and develop learning for others. Communication skills of the highest order are clearly demonstrated through children’s use of a range of media. They demonstrate highly effective thinking and problem solving skills.

HMIE March 2016

Live Learning has been pivotal to the transformation of the curriculum at Middleton Park School. HMIE praised the ‘outstanding use of digital technology to develop and share learning’.

330 films

Over 125,000 hits

Watched in over 130 countries

Innovative use of digital technology

How does it work?Every Friday, a film is uploaded to our Vimeo Channel and the link is shared through the school website and by a groupcall to all our parents in the school. All classes watch the film on a Friday and as well as discussing it, offer feedback about it.

We love having a window into their

school. On a Friday, we all sit down and watch the film and talk about what’s

going on.

My son’s Grandparents love watching the film from their home in

France. They feel it keeps them in touch with their

grandchild.

TES Creative School of 2016

The judges said, “An innovative curriculum model that has children ‘live’ in their learning and embraces fresh ideas, make Middleton Park the natural winner in this category. The impact of everything that this outstanding school is achieving is clear, attainment has increased across all stages and pupils are highly engaged and enthusiastic about their learning.”
