Watts Tots: Flower Vases
WATTS at home
Led by artist Charlie Betts, create a beautiful vase of flowers at home in this week’s activity tried and tested by our Watts Tots. Perfect for under 5s with adult help - though can be enjoyed by everyone!
Materials • Potatoes-cutinhalfandthencarveoutsimpleshapes(thesecanbeusedforthepetalshapes-diamondshapesworkwell)
• Celery-cutinhalfandboundtogetherwithanelasticband• Posterpaint• Paintbrush• Apieceofprintingpaper,scrappaperorcardboard• Tissuepaperorcolouredpaperforyourvase• Stickers(optional)• Printingstampsandink(optional)
1. On a large piece of paper, begin by dipping your carved potatoes and clump of celery into paint and start printing some colourful flowers.
2. Cut out a vase shape out of a different coloured piece of paper. Then stick this down onto large piece of paper, that is now hopefully covered in flower shapes.
3. Start painting in stems from your flower heads that lead into the vase.
4. Add decoration to your vase, using different papers, stickers and stamps.
