    Thesetypesofboltsaredesignedtobetightenedtoneartheirproofstrength,inordertocreatesignificantbolttension.Thestandardstatesthattheboltsmustbetightenedtoatleast70%ofthetensilestrength.Theseboltsusethesamematerialastheircommoncousins(ASTMF568Mformetricbolts),buthaveathickerandwiderheadtomoreeffectivelydistributetheload.Thismodifiedgeometryisoftenreferredtoasheavyhexgeometry.[5]

    ASTM325boltscanbeconsideredequivalenttoGrade8.8boltsaccordingtoASTMF568M.
