Welcome! The Suncoast Florida Chapter of the American

Society for Training and Development (ASTD) is

a nonprofit professional association serving

both local and national members in the

Suncoast region of Florida. The ASTD Suncoast

Florida Chapter is a local chapter affiliated with

the National ASTD. The chapter's members

are practitioners, managers, administrators,

educators, students and researchers who work

in the field of training and human resource

development.


ASTD Suncoast History

Since 1974, the Suncoast Florida Chapter

of the American Society for Training and

Development has been part of the

network of affiliated ASTD chapters

across the United States. At the present

time, the Chapter services 182+ active

members.

that you need to know.

Information you can access includes chapter history, vision,

mission, values, code of conduct, and our board.

Events for chapter meetings, SIG and GIG meetings are all listed

on the site in date order and you can also register for events

directly through the webpage.

There is a Members Only section where you will find valuable

information about Learning and Performance. These areas are

marked with a lock icon at the end of the tab.

Our Events


All chapter events are listed on the website in date order. You

will find some on the home page, but when you click on the

EVENTS tab, you will see them all. Chapter events include the

following:

• Monthly Chapter meetings – the third Thursday evening of

each month.

• Monthly Lunch and Learn meetings – occur one or two times

each month during the lunch hour and at various locations

around Tampa Bay.

• Sarasota GIG meetings – occur quarterly at Goodwill

Industries in Sarasota.

• Sr. HRD SIG meetings – occur quarterly at Safety Harbor Spa

in Safety Harbor

Our Newsletter

Each month, we publish “The Learning Ledger” and email it to

our members and contacts. We also have archived newsletters

on our site. (Archived newsletters are for Members only.)

Each newsletter provides information about events scheduled for

the coming month, lists new members, various educational

articles for Learning and Performance professionals, position

referral and our board of directors and their emails.

• Sponsors of Distinction are businesses and

organizations that support the Suncoast chapter by

purchasing a full basket of chapter services, including

three chapter memberships.

• Business Sponsors are independent businesses

(consultants, for example) that support the Suncoast

chapter by purchasing a select basket of chapter services,

including one chapter membership.

those aspiring to obtain their CPLP Certification.

Get the Most Out of Your Membership - Get Involved and Volunteer!

Volunteering with the chapter is . . .

• A great professional development opportunity

• An opportunity to build your network

• A way to give back to the learning profession.

• Volunteer according to your schedule.

• Projects can be big or small, a one time or 12 month commitment.Volunteers needed in the following areas:• Hospitality -- New Member Welcoming Committee (3) -- contacts new members

after their first meeting to welcome them again and invite them to attend the next meeting. Works with VP of Membership to keep communication with new members consistent. Member Retention Committee (3) -- contacts members whose membership have lapsed to invite them to rejoin the chapter and/or find out why they did not renew.


Volunteers needed in the following areas:

• Communications – Newsletter and Social Media• Website Maintenance – Publishing Events and making changes to the site• Programs – Lining up Speakers and assisting the speakers at each event• Sponsorship – Finding and assisting the set up of Business and Corporate

Sponsors• Public Relations -- Communication Strategist: Create, update and monitor all

online content for publicity. Works with VP of Public Relations to analyze and implement communication to target current and potential members.

• Professional Development – Assisting with the CPLP Study Group• Special Interest Groups • Community Involvement
