A Message From Father AaronBe a Spiritual Warrior!
Dear Friends, Did you know that you are called to be a spiritualwarrior? What does that mean? On the day of Confirmationthe empowering of the Holy Spirit is given to the candidateto be a “Solider of Christ.” Satan is active in our world. Infact, many would say that he is all too active in our day! However, Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God, hasdefeated sin and death and has claimed victory for usthrough the power of the cross. Jesus, who lives in oursouls (provided we are in a state of grace) is infinitely morepowerful than the powers of evil. So, brothers and sisters,we have the power of Christ in us to be his spiritual warriorswho claim victory over evil in our lives and help others dothe same. How do we know when we are in a spiritual battle?Indications of spiritual attack are; temptations to impurity, depressing thoughts, heavy discouragement, anxiety, thoughts of doom and gloom, feeling spiritually oppressed, thoughts of deep regret thoughts of despair or suicide.Satan tries to steal our hope and leads us into sin and awayfrom God. What do I do when I am under spiritual attack? First, remember that Jesus Christ has chosen you and loves you,and is far more powerful than evil. Then, claim that powerthrough prayer. The following prayers are suitable forspiritual battle at any time.1) The Jesus Prayer “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, havemercy on me, a sinner.” 2) The Prayers of Trust “Jesus,I trust in You.” Or “Wounds of Christ, I trust in You.” Or“Heart that was pierced for me, I trust in You.” Repeatthese prayers several times. 3) “Father, Thy Will BeDone” This prayer fights the demons trying to impose theirwill. 4) The Hail Mary Carry a rosary with you at all timeslike a spiritual weapon. 5) Make a visit to the BlessedSacrament at Church Even for just a few minutes ispowerful 6) Prayer of St. Michael 7) Go to Confession How do we know when we are experiencing the Spiritof God? The presence of Jesus primarily brings peace. God,who is love, only desires good things for his children. StPaul says, “In contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.” (Gal. 5:22) When the Holy Spirithas touched our hearts, we know it. May God guard and bless you as a warrior in the spiritualbattle! “Finally, draw your strength from the Lord and fromhis mighty power. Put on the armor of God so that you maybe able to stand firm against the tactics of the devil.” (Eph.6:10-11) In Jesus thru Mary, Father Aaron
