Discussion questions

I Should every game be accessible to every potential player?

I How much responsibility for accessability should fall onfeatures within games? (vs assistive technology used by theplayer to interact with the game?)

I Should we prefer strategies to make mainstream gamesaccessible over games designed specifically to be accessible toa certain group? (For example, one-switch games oraudio-only games.)

I I could find almost no products addressing videogameaccessibility for players with cognitive impairments (with theexception of educational titles). What types of assistivetechnology and/or game design strategies would be helpful forthis population?

I In research projects, reduction is often used as a strategy formaking games accessible to users with motor impairments. This usually means reducing the complexity of gameplay orautomating some aspects of gameplay. Is reduction agood/valid strategy for games accessibility?

I Is including an easy mode a valid strategy for gamesaccessibility?

I Some computer games use programmatic strategies to blockinput that does not come from a physical mouse or keyboard. This is intended to prevent cheating, but it also prevents theuse of many assistive technologies. Is this ethical?
