A set of rules governing a format of data sent over the internet.

This relies on IP which is receiving little packets called ‘datagrams’ in order for this to work.

BROADBANDWhat is Broadband?

Broadband uses a wide range of frequencies this means that a lot of messages can be ’communicated’ at the same time.

So, how do we use Broadband?

We use broadband to connect to the internet and use services such as Facebook and Google.

EMAILWhat is Email?

This is a message sent via the internet to another person.

How do we use it?It is used for business and personal reasons and is mainly a way to communicate with people across the world for free.

INSTANT MESSAGING (IM)What is this?An electronic message sent over the internet which is sent instantly.

How is this used?This is used on websites such as Facebook or on your mobile if you have apps such as KIK or iMessage.

SMS is a text message with words we use it to communicate with people

MMS

Multimedia Messaging Service is a way to send photos and videos over message however it costs money. We use it to share videos with people and images.

People use this to share their travels or just their personal life in

An Internet Service Provider is a service that gives a person access to the internet in exchange for money

We use Internet Service Providers to gain access to the internet

DOMAINSThis is storage for your own website. This is personal to the website creator/owner

We use Domains to access information and different Domains have different

types of content

WEB 3.0This is a big change in how websites are created and

how you interact with them and how they interact with

you.

We will be using Web 3.0 without knowing It because it is not an actual downloadable upgrade however it will

come up with specifically tailored adverts on pages you are visiting based on what you have searched

recently
