Monpura Character List:

1.Chanchal Chowdhury as Shonai, a fisherman who lives on

Monpura Island. He has a little house there, talks with animals,

and falls in love with Pori. He is also a fast swimmer.

2.Farhana Mili as Pori, daughter of another fisherman. She falls

in love with Shonai Mia but is forced to marry Shonai's foe.

About Monpura:

Monpura is one of the highest grossing Bangladeshi films,

directed by Giasuddin Selim [2] Monpura is a romantic tragedy

film set in rural Bangladesh. As Selim's large-screen debut, and

contemporary-folk soundtrack released ahead of screening

which were an instant hit, it received a huge media hype even

before its release. The shooting started in June 2007 and took

place in a number of places, including Dhunat (Bogra), Kushtia

and Dhaka.

Chanchal Chowdhury plays the role of Shonai. Farhana Mili

plays her debut role as Pori, the daughter of a fisherman. The

young couple are supported by veteran actors Mamunur Rashid

and Fazlur Rahman Babu.

Synopsis of the Movie (Monpura):

The movie breaks off a romance through the relationship

between Shonai and Pori on the island of Monpura. Shonai the

main character of the movie was accused for a murder of his

employer’s son committed. To save him from the police,

Shonai’s employer, Gazi sent him to the island of Monpura.

Then one day, he was overawed by the sight of the gorgeous

Pori and fall in love. They begin meeting oftentimes. Then

someday, once visiting Shonai at the island, Gazi comes across

Pori. Gazi, who is keen to marry his insane son off, had found

the perfect bride in Pori. Tricky Gazi convinces Shonai to

require his marriage offer to Pori’s father. The twist within the

movie begins once Gazi takes proposal for his son, Halim rather

than Shonai to Hakim Ali And though Hakim at the start refuses

to just accept the proposal, his greed for the wealth Gazi

guarantees him prevents him from resisting too long. Shonai

rushes to Pori swimming across the stream and along they

arrange their escape. following night Pori waits at the shore

holding a torch for Shonai to swim down the stream however

he doesn't arrive.

He gets picked up by the police for the murder charges Gazi

places on him. Pori is married off to Halim against her will. As

Shonai bides his time throughout his jail sentence, Pori is told

that Shonai has been sentenced to death and he are going to

be hung on. A shattered Pori poisons herself the terribly day

Shonai is granted bail.

Public Opinion:

It is very normal that there will be different types of comments

from the people according their point of view. But those

comments 'Not bad, but not as good as I have expected'-needs

a bit of attention.
