1- You are a manufacturer of computers. The Government of Rajasthan has

announced that it wishes to distribute tablet computers to school children in Rajasthan.

From publically available data, find out specifications of computers and other tender

requirements, total market potential of the order. Again from publically available

sources identify competitors who can offer similar computers and their pricing strategy.

Tender requirements:-

To fill the tender for tablet pc a document for procurement of tablet pc have to be filled. The

cost of document is 100 rs. And can be taken from Department of Information Technology

& Communications.

The Bidder must have a minimum average turnover of Rs. 25.00 Lacs annually duringthe last three financial years (2008-2009, 2009-2010, 2010-2011) consecutively.

Attested & audited copy of the companys annual audited report and/or CA certificate

must be attached along with the technical bid. It should have a local support office at

Jaipur with minimum 2 support engineers on company payroll. The list of such

employees is to be enclosed along with Technical bid.

The bidder is required to quote only single option for the required item. The bidder should submit an undertaking on their letterhead regarding the fairness of

the documents submitted in support of their claim while submitting the bids.

Earnest money will be taken @ 0.5 %( Half percent) of the value of the quantityoffered for supply by the SSI units of Rajasthan and security deposit @ 1% of thequantity ordered to be supplied. They will furnish original or Photostat of Registration

of SSI unit issued by the Director/ Commissioner Industries Rajasthan in respect of

stores for which they registered.

The payment to the bidder shall be made as under: 90 % on delivery and inspection of items 10 % on successful installation of items

"Tenders by Manufacturer/ Distributor/ bonafide dealers: Tenders shall be givenonly by Manufacturer/distributors/bonafide dealers in the goods.

No Dealer who is not registered under the Sales Tax Act prevalent in the State wherehis business is located shall tender. The Sales Tax Registration Number should bequoted and a sales tax clearance certificate from the Commercial Taxes Officer of the

Circle concerned shall be submitted without which the tender is liable to rejection.

Tenders shall be valid for a period of 90 days from the date of submission of tender. The approved supplier shall be deemed to have carefully examined the conditions,

specifications, size, make and drawings, etc., of the goods to be supplied. If he has

any doubts as to the meaning of any portion of these conditions or of the specification,

drawing, etc., the bidder shall, before signing the contract, refer the same to the

Purchase Officer and get clarifications.

The contractor shall not assign or sub-let his contract or any substantial part thereof toany other agency.

Testing charges shall be borne by DOIT&C. In case of test results showing thatsupplies are not up to the prescribed standard of specifications, the supplier shall

change the whole lot but within the stipulated delivery period, and the cost of the test

will be borne by the supplier.

Successful bidder will have to execute an agreement on a Non-Judicial Stamp of Rs.100/- within a period of 10 days from the date of work order and deposit security

equal to 5% of the value of stores prior to signing of agreement.

Market potential of the order:

According to a survey conducted by the Online Publishers Association (OPA) in March 2012,

31% percent of Internet users in the United States own a tablet, up from 12% in 2011. The

OPA estimates that tablet ownership among the U.S. Internet population will rise to 47%.

The survey also found that 72% of tablet owners had an iPad, while 32% had

an Android tablet in 2011; and by 2012, Android tablet adoption has increased, with 52% of

tablet owners using an iPad, while 51% use an Android-powered tablet. The percentages do

not add up to 100% because some tablet owners own/use more than one type of tablet.

As of October 2012, the top-selling tablet is Apple's iPad with 100 million units sold, and

according to estimates by Forrester Research, the iPad family is followed by

Amazon's Kindle Fire with 7 million, Barnes and Noble's Nook 5 million, and

Google's Nexus 7 with 3 million units. For the first time in history, display screen shipments

for tablets exceeded shipments for laptop display screens, as of October 2012.

Being one of the largest states there are around six thousand government schools in Rajasthanunder the control of State Government that have been set up in the thirty two districts of

Rajasthan. The total enrollment of primary students in 2001 was 72,04,000 in 35,077 primary

institutions of the state including the public and private schools. Elementary education is

offered to students who have completed the primary education. While in 14,807 elementary

schools the enrollment in elementary education schools was 23,14,000 the number of students

in secondary education in Rajasthan was 8,10,788 being admitted in 3,844 secondary schools.

Senior Secondary schools admitted 4,01,380 students in the state's 1,789 schools in Rajasthan

So if we count the total number of students in elementary and senior secondary schools there

is a large number of students and have a great potential in the market, to sell their tablet pc.
