INTRODUCTION

The Al-Rajhi Bank (known as the Al Rajhi Banking and Investment Corporation until a February

23, 2006 name change[1]) is the world's largest Islamic bank,[2] and a major investor in Saudi

Arabia's business world. It is one of the largest joint stock companies in the Kingdom, with a

paid up capital of SR 6.75 billion. Its Head Offices are located in Riyadh and there are six

Regional Offices. Al Rajhi Bank also has 18 branches in Malaysia and plans to have 50 branches

in that country by 2010.

Founders , Al-Rajhi Bank's shareholding pattern show that the four sons of Abdul Aziz Al Rajhi

(Saleh, Sulaiman, Abdullah and Mohammed) and their heirs remain the corporation's primary

equity holders. The Al Rajhi family is considered, by most in Saudi Arabia, as the country's

wealthiest non royals, and among the world's leading philanthropists.

Banking and trading activities of Al-Rajhi Bank began 30 years ago. In 1398 H (1978) individual

establishments were merged into "Al Rajhi Trading and Exchange corporation" and in 1404 H (1987) it

was converted into a joint stock company under the royal decree No. 59, dated 3/11/1407. In 5/4/1409 H,

the company was renamed to Al-Rajhi Banking and Investment Corp under the ministerial decision No.

1398, and again, in 2006, to Al Rajhi Bank.

credit cards or debit cards to withdraw cash, check balances and/or make deposits using the

magnetically encoded card to perform transactions. Most ATMs are interconnected via

networks, allowing consumers to conduct banking or credit card business anywhere in the

world.Al-rajhi On of the firsts banks who introduce Automated Teller Machines (ATM) in KSA

(mid-1994). It has equipped all its branches with ATMs, which have VISA card. This make them

able to be working offer 24-hour.

Advantages and Benefits of ATM

Save time and customer Satisfaction:

The main advantage of using an ATM of Alrajhi bank is the fact that you can have access to the cash in

your bank account whenever you need it. If, for instance, you are at a store that does not take checks or

credit cards but it has an ATM, you can withdraw the money for your purchase. This also means you can

travel anywhere without cash. So, you don't need to make a trip to the bank every time you need to

withdrawal money. You can use your card just about anywhere you go, and if you need the cash you can

access your money at an ATM machine any time of day or night. If the location has an ATM and you

have your ATM card, you can access your money instantly. By this, customer satisfaction will provide.

Increased spending:

More and more business proprietors have realized the benefits and advantages that the

installation of an ATM machine can provide. By adding an ATM machine into your business

location, not only will your traffic negotiation will be increased but the revenue as well. A lot of

businesses are currently realizing the need to offer their customers an easy access to an ATM

machine. This scheme proves to be an efficient way of developing new sources of revenue and

thus increase per person spending.

Security of the customer:

No need to carry cash. Just about every merchant accepts the debit card of Alrajhi bank including the

dollar store and some thrift shops. You do not need to worry about losing cash or misplacing it in a pair of

jeans only to find it two months later. If your purse or wallet is stolen your money is safe since the

perpetrator would need your PIN number to access your funds.

Service 24-hour emergency:

situations, when the client has ordered an emergency will find Al-Rajhi Bank ATM available for

service.

Using possible everywhere:

using any ATM for any other bank.

Disadvantages of ATMs

Accurate information:

With a debit card of Alrajhi bank you must keep accurate records. You must record each

transaction so you will know what your account balance is at all times. If you do not keep

records you run the risk of overdrawing your account which will result in bank fees. Not to

mention the embarrassment you will suffer at the checkout line when your card is denied.

Personal use:

If your child needs lunch money you can't just hand them the debit card. You have to drive to the

nearest ATM machine to access a few dollars to send to school with your child. This means that

you have to withdraw money from the ATM at any time family members needs it.

Fee for use:

Some ATM machines in Alrajhi bank charge a fee for their use and then your bank adds another

foreign ATM charge (if the machine is not from your bank). Know ahead of time what the fees

are and where you can access your money for free if possible.

7

Page 8: Assignment ATM in Alrajhi Bank

Maximum amount:

All ATMs have a limit for cash withdrawals per day, it always be around 1000 to 1500,

Therefore, the customer’s will not be able to withdraw more than the maximum amount for the

day. But often there are customers applying to increase the maximum amount per day.

The Impacts of using Alrajhi Bank ATM

Good Impacts

Provides some functions:

So there will be many opportunities for professionals working in this section, this will help to reduce unemployment among young people. Becomes when each is given the opportunities, lack of unemployment.

Support all sectors in Saudi Arabia:

All sectors in Saudi Arabia now uses the ATM of Al Rajhi Bank, in all their remittances and transactions

with customers. If you notice that the way the transfer of money through companies in Saudi Arabia are

mostly via the ATM mechanism for Al Rajhi Bank.

Negative impacts

Use on Cash Demand:

8

Page 9: Assignment ATM in Alrajhi Bank

To calculate the impact of Alrajhi bank ATM use on cash demand, average cash holdings are

regressed on the monthly volume of cash transactions. The regression equations also include

sociodemographic variables. A positive coefficient means that, given a certain transaction

volume, average cash holdings are bigger, or conversely, that cash is withdrawn less

frequently.19 The results presented in table 5 only cover individuals who draw cash either

exclusively from ATMs or exclusively at banks. Since many survey participants do not have a

personal income or have not declared this, two specifications (in each case, including and

excluding income) are estimated. In each of these two specifications, the coefficient of the ATM

use dummy variable measures the percentage change in cash holdings if a person uses an ATM.

Decline in Cash Usage:

A further significant effect on cash holdings can be caused by cashless payments. Since the last

few years have seen a steep rise in payments via POS terminals, it would be interesting to assess

the extent to which this development has affected both the use of cash and the demand for cash

by households. This chapter therefore presents such an assessment.

SIMILARITIES AND DIFFERENCES

In this part we will investigated the similarities and differences of ATMs .with three different

topics in Computing and IT in the workplace. this topics is Human Computer Interface , Ethical

and Legal issues and Internet and World Wide Web.

1. HUMAN COMPUTER INTERFACE

Human-Computer Interface is a technical writing and information design consultancy. The

Human Computer Interface refers to the way a person experiences the computer, its application

programmes, hardware components, output devices and functionality. It includes all aspects of

the human's experience from the obvious ones of screen layout and selection options as well as

input and output devices.

customers in the accounts and HCI.

users concern:

Implications of designing machines to be cautious, because the scan in machinery

may cause some serious diseases such as cancer or other diseases are unknown.

3. INTERNET AND THE WORLD WIDE WEB

The World Wide Web is a system of interlinked hypertext documents accessed via the

Internet. With a web browser, one can view web pages that may contain text, images,

videos, and other multimedia and navigate between them using hyperlinks. Using

concepts from earlier hypertext systems, English physicist Tim Berners-Lee, now the

Director of the World Wide Web Consortium, wrote a proposal in March 1989 for what

would eventually become the World Wide Web.[1] He was later joined by Belgian

computer scientist Robert Cailliau while both were working at CERN in Geneva,

Switzerland. In 1990, they proposed using "Hypertext” to link and access information of

various kinds as a web of nodes in which the user can browse at will",[2] and released

that web in December.

Similarities:

The two have a password :

In Al Rajhi Bank when you use the ATM you have typ a password so you can

access the account. The same thing when we use the Internet. The web pages

Even if the Alrajhi ATM bank Has a lot of disadvantages and negative effects, But it remains

major role in the development and improvement of services in Saudi Arabia. it also has a lot of

convenient services. If continued development in the ATMs, this will bring for it more customers

even from outside the country.
