Type Of Video: Lyric Video

Purpose: The artist is not famous enough to spend money on a music video that may not be that successful so the lyric video helps the audience to get to know the song more.

Inspiration: Although this song doesn’t have a proper music video, it allows me to have a more original response to the song and lets me think of my own narrative surrounding the lyrics.

Name: Slide Thru

Artist: Blackbear

Genre: R&B

Type Of Video: Conceptual

Purpose: The purpose of this video is to establish and expand his brand image. He is also trying to create something original and something to catch the audiences eye.

Inspiration: The use of split screen in this video is very effective and it creates a strange but intriguing feel. It would be hard to pull off but I think that if we could incorporate a small amount of split screen into the narrative it would show off our ability and professionalism.

Purpose: The purpose of this video is to tell a story that the artist has created. His strange and unique video is intended to draw attention to itself for popularity and more views.

Inspiration: I really like how he has created an interesting but efficient music video around the strange narrative and his use of an intro to the video is something I could use.

Name: Hold Back The River

Artist: James Bay

Genre: Indie

Type Of Video: Performance

Purpose: This was James Bay’s first ever music video and was his hit single for his breakthrough album for MTV. He might of choose a performance video to show the audience how he will perform live and also how he is fun and fiery on stage.

Inspiration: I like how throughout the video it only shows James playing and singing but when the chorus comes in and the tempo increases, tthe lights come on and you can see the rest of the band.

FUNCTION OF A MUSIC VIDEO

The function of a music video is always to promote the artist and their song! However, often there are other reasons for a music video such as highlighting a deeper and ignored world problem or showing off an artists personality or talents.
