Headlinethe headline is

very big and eye catchy

the ‘Dragon’ is bigger that the rest of the title which means

that they want the audience to

focus on the dragon

the font is different from the

body text, this shows that the

title differentiates and has a visual hierarchy where the heading is

seen first

the colour is red, which bolds out

the text and makes it more

noticeable

Page 4: Assignment 29: real life ancillary analysis

Primary Imagethere is no

primary image as all 4 image

would look a like

by having 4 equal sized

pictures (except 1) are the same size shows the

importance of all images

there is also visual hierarchy where i would

look at the images after the heading, as the images are not

bigger and bolder than the

headline

Page 5: Assignment 29: real life ancillary analysis

Standfirstthe standfirst is

in a different colour for it to be

different than the body text

the standfirst is also bigger than

the body text which also

makes is eye catchy

the placement of the standfirst is

at the corner where the body

text starts; below the headline

Page 6: Assignment 29: real life ancillary analysis

Body textthe text is in

columns which lays it out neatly

as the columns are well

organised it makes it easier

to read

the space between the 2

columns are well spaced, and isn't

too close

the body text has different

colour phrases to bolden out some

texts and to make them stand out

in one of the columns there is a subtitle to brief out the column to make it clear what the text is about

Page 7: Assignment 29: real life ancillary analysis

colour schemethe main colour is red, light and dark colour red

these colours represent heat,

and as the double page

spread is about dragons, therefore

dragons breath out fire which is represented by

the colour red as being heat

there also is a orange tiger (graphics)

behind one of the images,

orange is also the colour of heat mixed in

with red. - colour represents fear

in the colour scheme there is

also bleed, where the

dragon bleeds off the page also the

USA flag

Headline

the headline is white and bold

the title is in front of an image

which corresponds with

the title

you can see the title first - visual

hierarchy

Page 10: Assignment 29: real life ancillary analysis

Primary/Secondary Image

the primary image is the one behind the text, as the audience would see the text then the

image behind it

the secondary image is the one with the woman on the top left

corner.

balance of images, they are

not all big and competing with

each other

visual of hierarchy would see the primary image

then the secondary image

Page 11: Assignment 29: real life ancillary analysis

Standfirst

the standfirst is much bigger and the space between the

lines are bigger, gives it an

illusion of bigger text

its underneath the headline - beside

the text

visual of hierarchy would look a the standfirst before the text and after

the images

its a different colour, more lighter - it has a couple of bold words to make them stand out and make them more noticeable can be

because they are important

Page 12: Assignment 29: real life ancillary analysis

Body Text

the body text is in columns

making it more easier to read

the text is black in a white

background makes it more easier to read

without truing to read. and the

yellow background with the black text

also is easier to read

the spacing between the columns is reasonably good and can tell that there are

columns between each other and not a bulky text

the columns start of with a big letter, or a subtitle to introduce what the text would be talking about next, gives the audience a

flavour beforehand

Page 13: Assignment 29: real life ancillary analysis

Colour Scheme

the colour scheme is a bit random, where there is yellow

background and a white

background on the other page

the image between the text is also black which links wight he

word death from the title

whereas in this half of the page it mixes

around wight he colour where death is normally black

and white therefore the background is

white while the text is black

the one with the yellow back background uses a white box to make the text stand out, and the pictures have a hint of yellow

and bright light would represent summer

News Paper Advert

Page 15: Assignment 29: real life ancillary analysis

Primary Image

This is the main image as that’s

what the audience would loo at first since that’s the only image there is

The audience would look at the boy first as he is

the only clear and crisp one

whereas that’s where the focus

point on this picture is

The background is blurry and the people who are walking. This indicates and

makes it obvious where the

audience should be looking at mainly in the

image. Creates a visual hierarchy.

Page 16: Assignment 29: real life ancillary analysis

Graphics/Name of program

The text is at the bottom left of

the advert, this would indicate that the image would be more important that

the title itself, as the image would

attract the audience to

watch it

The text is in black and the background of

the text is white, it makes the title stand out more as it contrasts with the grey

background from the photograph

The title has different sizes and boldness.

This is the case because its laid out in a visual

hierarchy as the name of the TV channel would

be first and then a slightly smaller and less bolder

text to aware the audience when it

stars

Page 17: Assignment 29: real life ancillary analysis

Channel 4 Logo

The channel 4 logo, is placed on

the left side in the middle.

The colour of the logo is white and transparent so

the audience can still see the photograph

behind the logo

There is a visual hierarchy where

the audience would see the

photograph then the logo and

then the slogan.
