Mar Del Plata, Argentina has dominantly been known as the best place to hold major

gatherings, next to Buenos Aires. One of the most prominent sociofact in this city is the Fiesta Nacional

del Mar. According to the government website of mar del plata (Fiesta Nacional del Mar n.d), the

festival has been around since 1910 when the city decided it should hold a festival to elect the queen ofthe sea. Since 1972 the festival has been hosted annually, and attracted many tourist to the city. The

winner of the crown of the sea is involved in traveling across the nation and worldwide to promote

tourism to Mar de Plata. The impact of the festival has been so large that a famous director ManuelGonzalez Gil has portrayed the festival in one of his famous movies. This festival along with others

like a National Fisherman's Festival and Film Festivals acquire enough tourism to build a robust

economy.Because of the amount of tourism, it should not be surprising that tourist decide to visit the

coast line on a random long weekend, building to their economy. Fortunately, Mar del Plata also has a

    strong agricultural sector. The land in this area not only has plentiful humus, fine agriculture like;

wheat, oats, and flax, but also hosts thick crops like corn and soybean. Apart from plants Mar del Platahosts plentiful of livestock. Recently, Mar del Plata has been a host to several new copanies focusing

on the chemical side of things bringing plenty of new machinery and technology to the people. But of

course since Mar del Plata is near the ocean, one cannot forget fishing. It has one of the largest seaports in Argentina. All of these sectors plus smaller ones like textiles and mining, create a robust

economy, that welcomes tourists to share its culture (Economy n.d.).

As a tourist, it is impossible to not stay active in this lively city. Nearly everything is withinwalking distance. A lagoon, zoo, farm, trails, forest, and pretty much anything you could think of, you

can do in this city. Because of the climate being similar to many other beach cities, the population in

this city stays active and fit. Always bustling through the day and never sleeping (Rural Environmentn.d.).The tourists who visit never have to worry about getting around. Since this city is known for its

tourism, they allow guests to rent sand buggys or 4x4s to get around or even to go off-road on sand

    dunes. (Mar del Plata 2009).

The people of Mar del Plata are mostly Catholic but some Islam cultures has been diffused as ofrecently. The Argentine constitution has guaranteed religion freedom since the beginning so as a tourist,

there is little to no danger of being prosecuted by believing in something that may seem out of place to

the locals. As a whole the Argentinian people are open and blunt, all while avoiding being rude and outof place. Thanks to this bluntness the people of Mar del Plata are very kind and open to lend a hand

out. For their culture, once you gain their friendship, you can ask for favors, but expect to have to repay

the favor. Another thing about the people of this area is that they are close talkers, meaning that whenengaging in a conversation with the locals, there will be some polite physical touch of kindness

    (Argentina n.d.).

The family culture of Argentina is similar to that of the Europeans. This is due to the fact that

many of them are descendents of Europeans. The most spoken language in households is Spanish but itvaries from the one spoken in Spain, in that the dialect sounds a bit more like an Italian language. Apart

from Spanish other fairly common languages are German, English, and French; the world's most

spoken languages. The values of Argentinians focus on loving and cherishing your family partlycoming from the strong values imbedded from a Catholic religion. The main household figure often is

required to provide financial support, and security for the rest of the families, but because of this, they

receive tremendous respect. As a tourist, one must be extra respectful to the heads of powerful families. The Argentinians respect tremendous honor (Argentina n.d.).

If traveling during some of the most important Catholic festivals, Easter and Christmas, prepare

to join in. On top of these two national festivals, Argentina as a whole celebrates the Revolution of1810 in May, Malvinas Day on June 10, which is the day the country formalize a police and military

force, Independece Day on July 9th and the anniversary of Saint Martin's death on August 7th. Even if

not traveling during one of these festive days, one can enjoy a little bit the Argentinian outgoing
