Assessment for Day 1, Day 2, Day 3
In order to compare the data, you have to find all the values first! MEANAdd up the 5 numbers and divide by 5.
MEDIANPlace the numbers in order and findthe middle number.
MODEThe numberthat shows upthe most often.
RANGEThe differencebetween thebiggest numberand the smallestnumber.
3+6+6+9+11=35 35 / 5 = 7So, MEAN = 7
The numbers are already in order.3,6,6,9,11The # in the middleis 6. So, MEDIAN = 6
The number thatshows up the most is 6.So, MODE = 6
Subtract the smallest # from the biggest #.11- 3 = 8So, RANGE = 8
Choice “A”
7 > 8
NO!!
Choice “B”
6 > 7
NO!!
Choice “C”
6 = 7NO!!
Choice “D”
7 > 6YES!!
Step 1: Rewrite the table. “Day” is the x-values and “Bacteria” the y-values.
What pattern do you find in the DAY column?
Correct! Bacteria increases by almost 4 times every day!
Bacteria data is collected every day!
What pattern do you find in the BACTERIA column?
Now follow the pattern until you get to the 6th day.
To PREDICT means to ESTIMATE.
I know….. 16 * 4 is NOT 62 and 62 * 4 is NOT 250.We are estimating, remember?
So, you can predict that on the 6th day, 4000 bacteriawill be present. Choice C is the correct answer!
Which one of these answers is equal to the problem?Strategy: Think about your FAVORITE number. (DO NOT USE 0 OR 1) You are going to substitute your favorite number in place of all the Xs that you see in the problem and the answer choices.
My favorite number is 5. This is the number that I will substitute in place of X.
PROBLEM3(X+2)-4(X-3)3(5+2)-4(5-3)3(7) - 4(2)21 - 8 = 13
Choice “A”7X + 187*X + 187 *5 + 1835 + 18 = 53
Choice “B”7X - 67* 5 - 635 - 6= 29
Choice “C”-X + 18-1* 5 + 18-5 + 18= 13
Choice “D”-X - 6-1* 5 - 6-5 - 6= -11
= 13
= 13
= 53=
29
= -11
**Choice “C” matches!! Even though C is the answer, Always check all of the answers to make sure you are 100% right.**

PROBLEM3m + 4 – 7 m - 23(5)+4 - 7(5 ) -215 + 4 – 35 - 219 – 35 -2-16 - 2 = - 18
Choice “A”-4m + 6-4*m + 6-4 *5 + 6-20 + 6 = -14
Choice “B”-4m + 2-4*m + 2-4 *5 + 2-20 + 2 = -18
Choice “C”10m + 610*m + 610* 5 + 650 + 6= 56
Choice “D”10m + 210*m + 210* 5 + 250 + 2= 52
= -18= -14
= -18= 56= 52
**Choice “B” matches!! Even though B is the answer, Always check all of the answers to make sure you are 100% right.**
He has $25 out of the $120 that he needs.
25out of 120 that means that you divide 25 by 120.
Do any of the answers match 0.2083333?
You get 20.83% and the closest answer is “B”.
25 / 120 = 0.208333333
NO!! Move the decimal 2 spaces to the right!
