Shah’s statement came soon after PM Na- rendra Modi announced in Lok Sabha about the constitution of the trust. “There will be 15 trustees in the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teer- tha Kshetra Trust out of which one trustee will always be from the Dalit society,” Shah tweeted. He said the trust will be independent to take every decision related to the temple and 67 acres of land will be transferred to it. “I fully believe that the waiting of millions of people for centuries will be over soon and they will be able to pay obeisance to Lord Shri Ram in his grand temple at his birthplace,” he said. Shah thanked the PM for his commit- ment for construction of a temple dedicated to Lord Ram, “who is a symbol of faith and unwavering reverence of India”. “Today is a day of immense joy and pride for the whole country,” he said in another tweet. He said as per the Supreme Court order on the Ram Jan- mabhoomi issue, the Centre has taken a his- toric decision to form a trust in the name of Lord Ram, showing its commitment towards the construction of the temple. Defence minister Rajnath Singh hailed the announcement saying the representation of scheduled castes in the trust will strength- en social harmony. “PM Modi has honoured the spirits of crores of citizens of this country by announc- ing the formation of Ram Temple Trust. With the representation of Dalit community in the trust, social harmony has been strengthened. I heartily congratulate the PM for this deci- sion,” he said. UP CM Yogi Adityanath hailed the decision saying that this trust will be com- pletely independent and capable of making decisions related to temple construction. "I would thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for setting up an autonomous trust to build a grand temple at the birthplace of Lord Shri Ram. Iqbal Ansari, whose father Hash- im Ansari was one of the original liti- gants, said the land that the govern- ment had offered for the mosque should be used to build a dharamsha- la for devotees coming to Ayodhya, "with the facility of free boarding and lodging". Sunni waqf board chairperson Zufar Faruqi, who is currently abroad, was unavailable for com- ment. The board’s CEO, Syed Moham- mad Shoeb, told TOI that the members would decide on a response and action plan at a meeting on Feb- ruary 24. "A meeting of the Sunni waqf board is scheduled for February 24, where issues pertaining to waqf properties and legal matters were to be discussed. Ayodhya was not on the agenda, but given the recent events, the issue of land allotment might also be dis- cussed in the meeting," Shoeb said. "The board might also convene an emergency meeting before February 24 once the chairperson returns to the city." Lucknow/Delhi: The UP Sunni Cen-tral Waqf Board on Wednesday with-held an official response to the YogiAdityanath cabinet’s offer of a 5-acreplot for the construction of a mosquetill at least February 24, but its coun-sel and Babri Masjid Action Commit-tee convener Zafaryab Jilani made nosecret of his disappointment at thegovernment choosing a location25km away from the Ram Janmabhoo-mi site.

Jilani claimed the location of the 5acres allotted at Dhannipur village inAyodhya’s Sohawal tehsil does notconform to what the Supreme Courtmandated in its November 9 ruling inthe Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjidtitle suit.

“In all court documents that were

part of the title suit, Ayodhya was asmall town — a qasbah of Faizabad.This Ayodhya cannot be equated withthe new district created by the gov-ernment," Jilani said.

"Merely renaming a town and ex-tending its municipal limits does notprove that the land offered is still inAyodhya."

Iqbal Ansari, whose father Hash-im Ansari was one of the original liti-gants, said the land that the govern-ment had offered for the mosqueshould be used to build a dharamsha-la for devotees coming to Ayodhya,"with the facility of free boarding andlodging".

Sunni waqf board chairpersonZufar Faruqi, who is currentlyabroad, was unavailable for com-ment.

mad Shoeb, told TOI that the members would decide on a responseand action plan at a meeting on Feb-ruary 24.

"A meeting of the Sunni waqfboard is scheduled for February 24,where issues pertaining to waqfproperties and legal matters were tobe discussed.

Ayodhya was not on the agenda,but given the recent events, the issueof land allotment might also be dis-cussed in the meeting," Shoeb said.

"The board might also convene anemergency meeting before February24 once the chairperson returns tothe city."

New Delhi: Former Congress president Rahul Gandhion Wednesday said that while India’s youth demandedemployment, progress and development, Prime Minis-ter Narendra Modi got them beaten up and shot by po-lice.

While canvassing for Alka Lamba, the party candi-date in Chandni Chowk, Gandhi told a gathering at HauzQazi that if India and Delhi weren’t developed as manu-facturing hubs of the world and didn’t provide employ-ment to the youth, then violence and hate would soon be10 times greater than the current levels.

He said that in another year, a never-heard-beforevoice would emerge and “ask Narendra Modi to standaside and give employment to the youth. Only then willIndia get back on the right track”.

He added: “The only challenge before India is em-ployment generation and, for this, we’ll have to dislodgeboth (Delhi CM Arvind) Kejriwal and Narendra Modi.This can only be done if Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs andChristians stick together.”

Gandhi claimed that Modi spent all his time creatingdivisions. “And, then, he claims to be a deshbhakt,” hesaid. “Kejriwal and Modi teach us patriotism. Who arethey teaching us deshbhakti? The country elected themto work and they failed completely.” He claimed that Mo-di’s entire politics fed on the oxygen of unemployment.

Taking a dig at finance minister Nirmala Sithara-man, he said her 2.5-hour-long Budget speech was full oflies. “There are only two people who can speak endlesslies. They are Kejriwal and Modi,” he said.

Gandhi said the people of India could get angry witheach other, but there was no hate.

“There is a difference between gussa and nafrat.There was no hate between Hindus and Muslims be-tween 2004 and 2014. Then Narendra Modi comes fromGujrat and spreads the poison everywhere.”

With 20metre draft (depth), it will come up as one of the top 10ports across the globe to receive mother ships, whichcurrently come to Colombo or Singapore to offload thecargo to be transferred to Indian ports. This is the firstproject to be approved by the Cabinet, which was includedin the Infrastructure Projects Pipeline. Union shippingminister Mansukh L Mandaviya said the project will in-volve approximately Rs 64,545 crore investment.
