WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED ABOUT HINDUISM?
BUDDHISMMain Beliefs
Siddartha Gautama
No belief in a personal God
Change is always possible
8-fold path
4 noble truths
TAOISM /DAOISMMain Beliefs
Unity and opposites (Yin and Yang)
The Tao is not God nor is it worshipped
Pursuit of immortality
Achieving harmony and union with nature
“The Tao” is indefinable. It then follows up by teaching that each person can discover the Tao in their own terms.
The path of understanding Taoism is simply accepting yourself. Live life and discover who you are. Your nature is ever changing and is always the same. Don’t try to resolve the various contradictions in life, instead learn acceptance of your nature.
EYORE AND HAPPINESS (LOOKING INTO TOAISM)
• A little Consideration, a little Thought for Others, makes all the
difference. Or so they say.
• After all, one can't complain. I have my friends. Somebody
spoke to me only yesterday. And was it last week or the week
before that Rabbit bumped into me and said Brother!
• Owl flew past a day or two ago and noticed me. He didn't
actually say anything mind you, but he knew it was me. Very
friendly of him, I thought. Encouraging.
• When stuck in the river, it is best to dive and swim to the bank
yourself before someone drops a large stone on your chest in an
attempt to hoosh you there.
• They're funny things, Accidents. You never have them till
you're having them.
• Weeds are flowers too, once you get to know them.
WHAT DO THESE RELIGIONS SHARE?• View of good and bad is more like learning toride a bicycle
than learning spelling
• Rather than a personal god who metes out punishment for
breaking rules, these religions are based on universal forces or
principles which lead to pain and discomfort if they are ignored
(like someone who rides a bicycle recklessly can get hurt)
