Mr. Zahid Ur Rehman Khokher was appointed as the ActingSecretary-General of the Islamic Financial ServicesBoard (IFSB)effective15April2017bytheCounciloftheIFSBinits30thmeetingon 6 April 2017. Mr. Zahid Ur Rehman has been working withthe Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) since January 2008and has more than 19 years of regulatory and standard-settingexperience in the financial sector. He supervises the standard-settingandresearchprogrammesoftheIFSB,includingtheannualflagship Islamic Financial Services Industry Stability Report. HealsooverseestheprudentialdatabaseprojectonIslamicfinancialindicators. Apart from leading the implementation of Integrated ResultBasedManagementFrameworkfortheorganisation,hisroleinvolvesfosteringrelationshipswiththeIFSBmembers,MultilateralDevelopmentBanksandotherinternationalorganisations.BeforeassumingthepositionofAssistantSecretary-GeneralinJune2013,his experiencewith the IFSB includesworking as senior projectmanager and team lead for preparing new standards and guiding principles for Islamic finance, while adopting global regulatory reforms on liquidity, capital adequacy and supervision. He wasalso closely involved in assisting the member countries in the implementationof IFSBstandards. HehasalsoworkedasJointDirectorintheIslamicBankingDepartment,StateBankofPakistan,where he was involved in assignments related to the introduction and enhancement of prudential and regulatory framework for Islamic banking sector in the country. His experience in thecentral bank also includes on-site inspection, foreign exchangesupervision, and treasury. Dato’ Arif was born in Karachi, Pakistan in 1955. He obtained aMasterDegreeinAppliedMathematicsfromKarachiUniversity.Inthe80’sheworkedfor8yearsinPakistan,astheHeadofComputerDivision in the Cotton Export Corporation, the largest GLC inPakistan.Dato’ArifwastheHeadofSystemDevelopmentandITsupportattheStandardCharteredBankinPakistanwherehefirstjoinedSCBin1990.HeassumedtheroleofHeadofTechnologyin1999.Dato’movedfromPakistantoMalaysia in2005andjoinedScopeInternationalMalaysia,StandardChartered’sGlobalSharedServices Centre in Kuala Lumpur as the Head of InternationalSoftwareCentreMalaysia (ISCM)andwasappointedas theCEOin 2008.
