MARIA FUCHS – 14705
BEng RPEQ
I believe that community safety and an innovative Queensland relies on improving the
profile and standing for engineers in this state.
Registration is a sign of the respect communities have for a profession, but we are still the
only State which requires registration. Queensland continues to be the standard which
other states strive to, but they are catching up.
I want to play a role in serving professional engineers, improving our standing and making
Queensland an engineering centre of excellence. That means promoting the profession
while keeping registration affordable, accessible and the highest quality.
I also believe in registration fee caps, mandatory processing time limits for assessment
entities and a re-examination of the definition of engineering service to squarely address
community safety concerns.
I am a senior engineer working for a State-owned power company with more than five years
board and committee experience. I am on the Queensland State Committee of the
Association of Professional Engineers Australia and have served three consecutive terms as
Vice-President on the national board of Professionals Australia (formerly APESMA).
I need your vote for the BPEQ vacancy so our profession gets the respect, recognition and
reward it deserves.
