Ash Denham MSP November 2016 Newsleer I met with Joy Smith of the Joy Smith Foundaon and listened to her inspiring messages regarding com- bang human trafficking and helping vicms that are forced , ether financially or physically, into prostuon. Constituency work and Campaigns I visited the Cancer Research UK Edinburgh Centre where I witnessed first-hand the ground-breaking research be- ing carried out by scientists and doctors, and heard how research such as this will help to save lives. I fully support and respect the Movember Founda- ons work to raise awareness for mens health. They work to address health issues including prostate can- cer, tescular cancer, and mental health and suicide prevenon. I went on a walk in the park with representatives of Woodland Trust to learn more about the Ash tree. Holyrood Park and much of Edin- burgh is covered with these beauti- ful trees. Ash trees across Europe are being damaged due to a serious disease called Ash dieback. There is more information on the visible signs of the disease on Woodland Trust’s website. If you see any ab- normalities in the Ash trees, please report it to them! I was happy to meet with Step Change Debt Charity this month to discuss the demographics in Edin- burgh East. Step Change offers free debt advice both by phone and online.

Speeches, Motions, Debates, Events

I spoke in an NHS debate. In the

SNP Manifesto, we pledged to

put more money into the NHS.

This government has increased

the NHS budget, thereby in-

creasing NHS staff.

On 9 November, I spoke in a debate about pre-

venting and eradicating hate crime and in support

of International Credit Union Day.

I also spoke about the implica-

tions that the EU Referendum

will have for culture and the

creative industries. And about

the impacts that the EU Refer-

endum will have on the Single

Market and Trade.

Edinburgh Waverley Station

“I suggest that the executives at Network Rail spend even

a day on crutches or in a wheelchair, with a couple of

heavy suitcases, navigating through the station, getting on

and off trains and

going up to try to

hail a taxi while

waiting in the

freezing cold. That

might give them

some perspective

on the issue.”
