STEPHEN EDELSONCOMMENTARY

Neptune Sgt. Philip Seidle stalked ex-wife TamaraWilson-Seidle while he was on duty, based on a law en-

forcement review of GPS data from his patrol vehicle, the Asbury Park Press has learned.

While police termed it “stalking,” it was unclear howfar back the alleged conduct went, or the lengths towhich Seidle is believed to have tracked his ex-wife.The GPS data showed, at the very least, that Seidle trav-eled up and down the cul-de-sac in Neptune on whichWilson-Seidle lived.

On June 16, on an Asbury Park street, Seidle, 51, shotand killed Wilson-Seidle, firing 12 shots from his .40-cal-iber Glock service weapon at her in front of the couple’s7-year-old daughter, and other onlookers, includingNeptune and Asbury Park police.

The revelation casts an even sharper light on howthe Neptune Police Department handled Seidle, a 22-year veteran of the force, prior to the slaying.

GPS records for officers’ vehicles are easily acces-sible by a department, according to the source, wholearned of the alleged stalking from a law enforcementofficer with direct knowledge of the Seidle homicide in-

vestigation.Documents released to the Asbury Park Press after

the killing had already revealed that Neptune policehad generated 21reports, some involving domestic vio-lence, involving the Seidles.

Charles Webster, spokesman for the MonmouthCounty Prosecutor’s Office, declined to discuss the alle-gation of Seidle stalking his ex-wife.
