• Why did we choose this folklore?To know the ancients of Mataram KingdomBecause maybe a lot of people don’t know about the origin
of Mataram Kingdom. Most of them only know the history of Mataram Kingdom begun from Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono I.

WHAT IS KELOPO GAGAK EMPRIT REVELATION?
• Revelation from Pajang Palace.
• “Who drink its water, his generation can be the great king in Java Island kingdom.”
WHY IT IS CALLED “KELOPO GAGAK EMPRIT”?
• Gagak bird seems like emprit bird.
WHERE WAS THIS FOLKLORE COME FROM?
• Southern of Java (Gunungkidul).
WHEN WAS THIS FOLKLORE HAPPENED?
• No specific time.
WHO WERE THE MAIN CHARACTERS?
• Raden Mas Kertonadi
• He is the generation of Brawijaya IV
• Came from Majapahit
• “Murid kinasih” of Sunan Kalijaga
• Ki Bagus Kacung
• He is the generation of Brawijaya V
• Came from Majapahit
• “Murid kinasih” of Sunan Kalijaga
Ki Ageng Giring III Ki Ageng Pemanahan
HOW WAS THE PLOT?
• Majapahit Pajang
• Sunan Kalijaga asked Ki Ageng Giring III and Ki Ageng Pemanahan to find that revelation in southern (Gunungkidul) and to spread Islam religion.
• Ki Ageng Giring was in Giring (Paliyan state) and Ki Ageng Pemanahan was in Kembang Lampir (Panggang state).
• Ki Ageng Giring got brainstorm to plant “sepet” (coconut fiber).

• The coconut plant grew up and appeared only 1 coconut.
• Ki Ageng Giring III got brainstorm about the coconut tree that he has planted.
• Ki Ageng Giring III picked that degan and carried home.

• Ki Ageng Pemanahan planned to go Ki Ageng Pemanahan III’s house.
• Ki Ageng Pemanahan asked permission to drink the degan.
• He was not allowed to drink that degan.
• After he drank, he went to Yogyakarta through Getas (Playen)-Dlingo (Bantul).

• Ki Ageng Giring III was taking a bath at Kali Gowang, and he felt something wrong with that revelation.
• His wife told him about what have happened with the degan.
• He followed Ki Ageng Pemanahan until they met at Dlingo (Bantul).
• He told Ki Ageng Pemanahan about the contain of the revelation.
• They made decision (decided) that Ki Ageng Giring III’s generation can be the king, but it is the seventh generation.

• Gunungkidul wouldn’t be called “Adoh Ratu Cedak Watu.”
