How well did you plan your production and what methods did you use?

We was given about 2 weeks to create and plan our production timeline. We came up with a few ideas on how to structure it. We made sure we implemented our current media knowledge to prevent us from wasting time on too much planning; and use the saved time for filming.

What influenced your choice of theme? After reading through the preliminary task, as a group we discussed what would be the best way to show off our talents and creativity individually. Everyone gave their first thoughts which we recorded into a mind map. Originally we wanted drama as our theme to show off our talents, however, this then seemed complicated as we didn’t have much time for filming. We then agreed on a more simple theme as it was our first production; we came to the conclusion of reality concept. This made the planning time much shorter, thus allowing us extra time for filming.

Was this an effective method?

The mind map was an effective method as it gave a chance for every individual to contribute their ideas. Having everything down on paper let us analyse what we had came up with and decide which flowed best. We tried to use as many interpretations as we could to assure everyone had their input; granting everyone to feel a part of the project.

How well did your product meet the original proposal? Our initial idea didn’t seem too complicated; however once we attempted to film it we realised it needed much more time and effort than we had been given. Thus leading to us back to the drawing board to brainstorm again. That's when we decided that we could still show off our skills but in a much simpler form. We created something less challenging. Another issue with our original proposal was our timing, once we tried to structure our production timeline we realised it didn’t fit into the time frame we had. Our original theme was a drama; a young girl in an abusive relationship but wanted to leave. Although our new idea was a reality.

Camera composition and movement of shots Camera composition is what is currently in the view of the camera lens and being captured. Such as a close up shot, a long shot and wide shot.

Movement is the effect that panning and filming have on the shots.
