MDF (Main Distribution Frame)MDF (Main Distribution Frame) It acts as a termination for subscriber and exchange pairs.

InMDF these pairs are connected by Jumpers.

Afault of telephone number is removed inMDF.

Fault is corrected by a live tester.

MDF basically has two sides: Line & Exchange.

Line side:

1 vertical has 10 tag blocks. Each tag has 10 rows and each row has 10 lines i.e. each tag has 100

lines.

Exchange side:

Each tag block has 128 tags.

Each block is divided in 4 segments. i.e. 0, 1, 2 & 3.

Types of Faults:

Loop fault

Earth fault
