Results Round-Up Under 15 Leagues

Under 15A League ONE OF the most exciting cricket matches of the junior cricket season so far saw Andover overcome Trojans in an early season game. The two Max’s for Andover was the difference between the two sides as both Souter and Romer Lee ended on unbeaten 30not out figures as the home side set Trojans 94 to win. Trojans would off been quietly confident of chasing down that target however some impressive bowling from Souters and Hamosh Morton put paid to that. Indeed Morton himself tore through the batting line up to finish with a total of three wickets in four over’s. Anish Joffi 30not out and Louise Hoghton 14, top scored for the away side. Under 15B1 League Matthew Haworth’s unbeaten 38 saw Compton and Chandlers Ford edge past visitors Otterbourne in a very close game in Southampton. Batting first Compton set about to frustrate the away side’s bowling attack and were largely successfully as they posted a creditable score of 94 all out. The only blemish on that was the eye-catching bowling of Eddie Culpitt, as he tried to single-handedly win the game for Otterbourne. His three wickets in as many over’s only brought eight runs to Compton and with a little more help from his side, he could off been on the winning side. However Compton’s own bowling line-up tore into Otterbourne, and with Calvin Meyer, Jay Dulay and Josh Poulter each taking two wickets each they reduced the visitors to 80-9 in their allotted 20 over’s. If that wasn’t enough, Compton had to play a second game straight after that victory, and any lingering doubts over fatigue were immediately hit for six. Due to match postponements their match against Fair Oak B, was played immediately afterwards and like the first match, they defeated their visitors. Matthew Haworth one again showed his class as his unbeaten 34not out helped his side to victory and was helped by brother Mike Haworth’s 7not out and Jay Dulay’s unbeaten 14 as Compton finished on 93-1. In reply Fair Oak B were restricted to 89-5 with Anash Crocker and Oran Creedon taking two wickets each. In another pulsating game in the division Otterbourne won in a high-scoring game by defeating Amport. Eddie Culpitt’s 29 helped the away side to post a mammoth total of 147-1 and the home side battled hard to reach their target but fell just short on 129-6 with Sam Goacher top scoring on 20not out. Elsewhere Easton and Martyr Worthy lost at home to Hursley Park by eight wickets after finishing on 87-6. The visitors reached their target of 88 with the loss of just two wickets. Under 15B2 League An exciting encounter saw Sparsholt overcome St Cross B by eight wickets in a match where Oscar Birnie’s unbeaten 28 saw the away side leave with the victory. St Cross B looked to have posted a match winning score of 109-2 with James Burgess and Ben Barber both hitting 18, and Simon Culmer 26, and Felix Organ hitting 25 however

Sparsholt responded in admiral fashion with Birnie producing a match-winning performance to take two wickets alongside his total run haul to leave the home side shocked.

Results Round-Up Under 13 Leagues

Results up to 8th May Under 13A League A CRUSHING bowling performance was the difference in an otherwise close match as Trojans were beaten by Fair Oak. The home side were chasing 113 to win after George Hoarton, 31 runs and Connor Jack, 24, had put Fair Oak in control. However no one was expecting to witness such a brilliant bowling performance as Harry Salmon and Henry Phillips toar into Trojans right from the off. Phillips managed four stumpings with Salmon taking the rest of the wickets for just three overs. That result came after defeat last weekend, where despite Harry Boby’s efforts, Fair Oak slumped to defeat in their match against St Cross. The home side, in reply to 136-7 only managed 102 from their 20 overs with Alex Chessell top scoring with 33 runs. It was a disappointing result for the home side who had started off so well with Boby taking four wickets from his four overs. Fair Oak will hope that the result this weekend can kick start their season. Elsewhere on the opening day Hursley Park shocked St Cross B by winning by ten wickets. St Cross had indeed themselves managed 115-6, a healthy score and were looking to defend that lead. However a quite brilliant batting performance by Hursley Park ended up in victory as they didn’t even lose a wicket. The best plaudits of the opening weekend went to Andover, who went top for the time being, after a brilliant performance away to Compton & Chandlers Ford by beating them by seven wickets and gaining 16 points from the match. Incidentally this has also seen the best bowling performance by a team in all three divisions after they restricted CCF to just 69-8. Sparsholt A put in a brilliant performance as they defeated a St Cross Symondians B side by eight wickets. They restricted the away side to 78-6 in their 20 overs and then with minimal fuss set about reaching their target of 79 to win with the loss of just two wickets. On a day which saw a number of postponements throughout all three divisions Fair Oak A beat Trojans A by 38 runs to lead the way with 21 points at the top of the table. Under 13B1 The Under 13 B1 season has been blighted with postponements and cancellations so far this season however there has also been a fair share of exciting matches. DEAN Griffin was the top run scorer for Easton & Martyr Worthy in their match against Longparish however it wasn’t enough as the away side won by six wickets after reaching 110-4 in just 15.4 overs on the first weekend of the season. Even though it looked like Griffin’s unbeaten 32 was going to take the home side over the finishing line it wasn’t to be. After that result it puts Longparish second in the league, after the second game against Bishops Waltham was postponed, however they will know that with a long summer ahead of them a dip in form could see them plummet towards the bottom of the league. After two victories so far over Fair Oak C, where they won by a ten wicket haul on the opening weekend, and Easton &MM, Hedge End will be most optimistic of having a good season as they sit top of the pile with 29 points gained from their first two games. Amport, Andover B, IBM Hurskey and Otterbourne A are yet to get their campaigns underway. Under 13B1 League Table (as off 10th May)

Under 13B2 IF EARLY season form is anything to go by, then Titchborne Park have every reason to be optimistic after two victories from their first two games. On the opening weekend they defeated Fair Oak C by five wickets with Thomas Essex on 17 not out and Aidan Blackman scoring 15 as the home side reached 74-5 in their 20 overs. Chasing just 75 to win, Fair Oak C would off expected to claim the points however excellent bowling from Nathan Bristow and Thomas Walton stopped them doing so. After winning by five wickets, Titchborne Park then entertained St Cross Symondians C and beat them by seven wickets to leave themselves top of the table. Ellie Musson was the star of the day as she brilliantly went about dismantling the Sparhsolt B attack as Otterbourne gained the victory. In a crushing display, in which the 13-year old was the only female on show, she managed to take four wickets for just eight runs as Sparsholt collapsed to 85-9 chasing 121 to win.

Page 6: Articles and CV

Musson was helped by fellow bowler Jamie Driver who himself took three wickets from four overs and a confident batting performance from Zack Miles who scored 27. It seems that anyone who plays Twyford this season are in for an exciting match as they have had arguably the two best matches of the season so far. Firstly they entertained an Otterbourne B side and beat them by six wickets. Strong batting from the home side meant they finished on 101-2 whilst the visitors could only manage 99-8 after some impressive bowling. They followed that up with a close game against Ropley who eventually prevailed to win by 20 runs. Will Stennett and Theo Hughes built up a partnership of 60 as they both ended up 30 not out whilst Ben Kelson managed 26. In reply Twyford’s top batter was Jimmy Fisher who managed 25; however Ropley’s target proved too much for them. Elsewhere Otterbourne B impressively beat Sparsholt B by 35 runs after reaching 120-4 and then reducing the away side to just 85 in what was a very impressive team performance with bat and ball. The match between Wherwell and Trojans B was cancelled. Under 13B2 League Table (as of the 10th May)

Results Round-Up Under 15 Leagues

Under 15A League IN A busy weekend for Southampton Community which saw them play two matches in as many days they finished on a high after starting off with a defeat against neighbours Hedge End. A batting partnership of Joshua Stewart-Hill and Jack White saw them end with figures of 25 and 24 respectively as the home side set Southampton Community 110 to win from their 20 over’s. However some impressive bowling and fielding from Hedge End saw them overcome their visitors as James Doherty took three wickets from his four over’s and saw a great slip catch from Stewart-Hill. Abdul Manjra top scored with 29 runs for Community. Southampton Community went away from home again a few days later to face Trojans and got their first victory on the board after winning by six wickets. The win leapfrogs them above their opponents in the table. In perhaps the most exciting game of the game week saw Hedge End, also playing their second game in a few days, lose to St Cross A by eight wickets with just seven balls to spare. The home side were largely helped by some impressive batting performances from Joe Weatherley who top scored with 30not out and was closely followed by Jack Stanley 27, Charlie Ayers 22, and Harry Foyle with 21. In reply Hedge End were undone by a bowling and fielding masterclass as Harry Foyle and Richard Bolton both took two wickets from their four over’s each and Jack Middleton managed three stumpings as they reduced the away side to 136-8 with Jack White’s 35not out and Tom Nicholl’s unbeaten 31 not enough to deny St Cross the win, and preserve their unbeaten star. Andover continued their impressive form by beating Fair Oak by six wickets. Under 15B1 League HURSLEY PARK’s good run of form continued as they took two victories this week to move top of the B1 division. After overcoming Otterbourne by four wickets after the home side set them a target of 85 to win, which they eventually did, they went away to Fair Oak B and defeated their opponents after some impressive batting from Oliver Barnes. Fair Oak B set them a target of 80 to win after posting a score of 79-9 from their 20 over’s with Josh Ploughman top scoring with 27not out. However in reply Barnes hit an unbeaten 30 to edge the away side to victory and despite good bowling from Joe Theobald and Matt Perriam it wasn’t enough to deny Hursley Park victory. Henry Slesser’s 25, and Luke Bourner’s 22, wasn’t enough as Amport lost to Compton and Chandlers Ford in a close encounter.

Page 8: Articles and CV

After posting a score of 108-5, the home side’s bowling let them down as Compton reached their victory target of 109 with minimal fuss. In doing so they only lost one wicket. Under 15B2 League ROPLEY’S impressive start to the season continued after they beat an underachieving St Cross B by seven wickets. Batting first the visitors finished on 113-5 with Felix Organ hitting 30 runs to leave the away side with a table score to defend. James Forrest tried to be the nemesis for Ropley as he took three wickets in four over’s and he managed to inspire his team-mates, who responded in excellent fashion. Myles Greenwood’s 29, and Sam Packenham Walsh’s 26, proved just enough for the home side as they finished on 117-3. A dominant display from Sparsholt saw them overcome and inflict another defeat on sorry Trojans. Ralph Mahood’s unbeaten 30, co-in sided with Oscar Birnie’s 31not out ensured the win. Birnie himself has been in fine form this season with the bat and ball, and his looking a decent prospect for the future. Mahood, Tom Wilkinson and Birnie himself all took two wickets each.

Under 15A League EXCEPTIONAL bowling and fielding performances ensured there was a low scoring game between Hedge End and Andover, which eventually saw the home side prevail. Batting first, Hedge End were put under tremendous pressure as they looked to continue their good run of form with Rob Taylor taking four wickets for Andover in as many over’s as they reduced the home side to 67 all out. In reply Andover were all out for 55 after some excellent bowling from Tom Nicholls who continued his fine season with four wickets in just 3.5 over’s. Ally Kenworthy and Richard Spiers took two wickets apiece as Hedge End won by 12 runs. Under 15B1 League Chris Campbell’s 19not out helped Easton and Martyr Worthy to a seven wicket win over Amport and was helped by Matt Cooper’s four wickets in just 3.4 over’s and two wickets from Calum Rigden who also finished with a brilliant low catch at mid-on to inflict another defeat on struggling Amport. Under 15B2 League Ropley won their second successive game of the month against Trojans to leave the home side with yet another defeat. Sam Packenham Walsh’s 30, Myles Greenwood’s 25 and James Forest’s 22 set them on their way to victory as they dominated the home side to win by an impressive margin of ten wickets. County Cup TICHBORNE PARK are through to the next round of the County Cup after beating Fair Oak A by 94 runs. Aidon Pond’s 41 and Ross Green’s 50 set them on their way to victory after posting a score of 178-5. In reply the visitors were all out for 84 with Nakhil Chikhiwala taking three wickets for the home side as Friday 13th proved to be bad luck day for Fair Oak. Elsewhere St Cross A beat Hedge End by 53 runs with Luke Ingram taking three wickets for the away side.

Results Round-Up Under 13 Leagues

Under 13A League SOME impressive batting performances from St Cross A helped them to a 53 run victory away to Hursley Park and cement their place at the top of the table. Simon Culmer top scored with 33 runs not out, with Zach Housden on 32 and Ben Barber 30 as St Cross A went about to maintain their decent start to the season. After reaching 166-5 in 20 over’s they went about dismantling the home sides batting line-up and reduced them to 113-4 with Matthew Perriam on 31 and Sean Rademaker 30 top scoring. The victory was made even sweeter after Hursley defeated St Cross’s B team by ten wickets last weekend. Elsewhere in the division Compton & Chandlers Ford made light work of St Cross B, who continue their disappointing week, by defeating them by nine wickets. The home side posted a total of 81-5 in their 20 over’s before Compton reached their winning target if 82 in just 13 over’s, whilst losing just a single wicket. Fair Oak A swept aside Southampton Community with minimal fuss, outplaying their opponents to win by a staggering 90 runs. The visitors posted a score of 153 for 5 in their 20 over’s and bowled out their opponents for just 63 runs, in what was a stunning bowling display. The match between Sparsholt A and Andover A was postponed due to the weather.

His wicket total came in just two over’s as the visitors won by 85 runs. Posting a mammoth score of 156-2 it was always going to be an uphill struggle for Fair Oak, after Harry Buse and Moody posted 60 runs between them. In reply Fair Oak managed 71-9 in their 20 overs. Hedge End had a weekend to celebrate after crushing Amport A by nine wickets. Brothers Dan and Luke Ayling finished not out on 25 and 16 respectively with Blake Darney posting 20 as they made light work of their opponents.

Results Round-Up Under 13 Leagues

ONCE again the weather played foul to a lot of games in the under 13 league calendar with only a handful of matches played. The Marquis Motorhomes Under 13A League AN OUTSTANDING bowling display from St Cross A saw them overcome their B counterparts, to cement their position at the top of the league. Tom Fay capped a brilliant all round performance with 25not out as the away side posted a huge total of 135-9 from their 20 overs. Rafferty Tellett took 3-19 in his four overs for St Cross B but they were soon swept away by the visitors. James Thompson achieved 4-9 in just three overs, with bowling partners Fay and Jonnie Wahid getting 3-15 in three overs as St Cross B were bowled out for just 83. The win leaves St Cross A firmly on top of the division with five wins out of five and at this stage of the season they look very strong candidates to win the league. In another high scoring affair Southampton Community’s dire season continued as they slumped to their fifth consecutive defeat at home to Andover A. The visitors were put in to bat first and posted a score of 138-4 with Nikko Hunt top scoring with 31not out. Harry Williams 26 and Ben Cox 23not out helped Andover post a competitive score. Southampton Community never got close with Ben Cox proving to be the thorn in their side as his 3-5 proved decisive as the home side finished on 98-9. The win puts Andover A in 3rd place in the league. Thomas Foster’s 4-8 helped Sparsholt A overcome Trojans A in a match which saw a stunning catch from Ben Cawsten. Cawsten’s catch and some impressive bowling from Foster put paid to any hopes of a victory for Trojans A as they lost by six wickets. Indeed Foster also managed 19not out in a particularly impressive performance with Stuart Veal also posting the same score. The defeat leaves the away side 8th in the league and without a win, however special mention has to go to Jack Mellett whose 1-1 in just two overs proves he did everything he could to restrict Sparsholt A.

The Marquis Motorhomes Under 13B1 League Connor Potter and Ben Hughes both starred as Fair Oak B defeated Amport A in the only match played during the weekend. Potter’s 21not out and Hughes 20 enabled the home side to post 109-3 with Ben Black’s bowling figures of 2-17 for Amport A ensuring the victory target remained low. However Amport fell just short of their target of 110 to win, after Lewis Passmore’s 2-17 for Fair Oak B proving just enough. The win puts Fair Oak B 5th in the league, with this being their first victory of the season.

The Marquis Motorhomes Under 13B2 League Ollie Cook was the star performer for St Cross C but ended up on the losing side in one of the most exciting games of the league season so far. Put into bat first against Twyford, the visitors posted a score of 78-6 with Cook top scoring with 33not out. Will Rowe 1-4 and Wyatt Brennan 1-3 ensured that the victory target for the home side was just 79. They reached that target with just three overs to spare with Rowe getting 32not out but Cook’s 2-1 and Joe Winter’s 2-17 ensured it was a nervy finale. The win moves Twyford up to second place in the division. Otterbourne remained in fourth after a ten wicket victory over Wherwell, who remain bottom of the pile. Wherwell were reduced to just 65-8 in their 20 overs and Otterbourne didn’t hang about, and reached their victory target to finish on 69-0 after just 6.3 overs. Elsewhere Sparsholt B overcome Trojans B to win by 36 runs after the away side hit 98-4 of their allotted 20 overs. In reply Trojans B could only manage 62-8.

Results Round-Up Barfoot Cup Round one and Under 13 Leagues

IT’S the one fixture date most clubs look forward to at the start of the season, and the weekend didn’t disappoint with some exciting cricket played in the Barfoot Cup Round One. All matches played were also league matches. The Marquis Motorhomes Under 13A League Barfoot Cup Round One ONE of the shocks of the competition so far took place when Trojans A upset visitors St Cross B, to post their first victory of the season. Languishing just above bottom place in the league and a second round match at stake, Trojans didn’t let that affect them and reduced St Cross B to 50 all out. Dhruv Gor’s 5-10 in four overs was a particular highlight and was helped by Aykam Grewel’s 3-17. In one of the most eagerly matches of the weekend saw Andover A come up against Fair Oak A. Both teams are going strong in the league with them sitting 3rd and 2nd respectively and it was the home side who prevailed on this occasion. Fair Oak who batted first reached 91-6 in their 20 overs with Ben Cox 29not out. In reply George McKenzie’s 31not out proved enough for Andover as they hit a six off the last ball to finish on 95-4. Southampton Community’s dismal season continued as they were comprehensively beaten by league leaders and cup favourites St Cross A. St Cross batted first and posted a very healthy score of 147-8 but in reply Community were blown away by some fantastic bowling and ended up 31 all out in a game they will want to forget. The defeat means Southampton Community now have to face St Cross B in the Plate competition whilst St Cross now play Trojans A. Elsewhere Hursley Park, 115-4, defeated Sparsholt A, 105-3, by 10 runs. The Marquis Motorhomes Under 13B1 League Barfoot Cup Round One Outstanding batting performances from Dean Griffin, 31not out, and Ethan Brackstone, 33not out, saw Easton and Martyr Worthy overcome the challenge of Amport to progress to the second round of the competition. Amport batted first and posted a score of 134-8 which would be enough to win in most games. George Sutcliffe 30not out and Ollie Owen’s 20 helped them to a credible score but Easton and Martyr Worthy proved too strong and finished on 138-1 after 19.3 overs. Otterbourne A edged an exciting match between fellow B1 challengers Andover B. The visitors who were sitting top of the league before the day’s play lost their unbeaten start to the season thanks largely in part to Dominic Saville. His match winning performance did not go unnoticed as his bowling and batting heroics proved to be the away side’s downfall.
