Learning ChineseLars Bjorge is digital lead for the international agency OgilvyOne. He arrived there directly from the norwegian advertising industry. He admits he had expected China would be far behind Europe in digital marketing. - The advantage you'd expect the west to have is rapidly disappearing. I quickly discovered we have really talented colleagues here. The difference is not in individuals, but in the systems tying talent together. 'One of the differences in being a leader in Asia and Norway lies in how involved you need to be at different levels of operation. Since the industry is relatively new, the systems aren't always as good as the individuals populating them'- Another challenge is the language. 'Many westerners here speak Chinese. Presently I am far from fluent'Bjorge, who only has been in China for 6 months is studying Chinese to learn the language as quickly as possible. 'Many clients prefer speaking their own language. Therefor many meetings are conducted in Chinese'
