Aortic Arch

• What are the arteries that come off the aortic arch in order?– Brachiocephalic Trunk• Turns into the Right Subclavian and Right Common

Carotid Arteries.

– Left Common Carotid Artery – Left Subclavian Artery

Page 4: Arteries & veins of the upper body

Where do they go?

• Right Subclavian Artery– To the right arm

• Right Common Carotid & Left Common Carotid– The Head Neck & Brain

• Left Subclavian Artery– Left Arm

What order do the arteries go in starting with the Subclavian?

• Subclavian Artery• Auxiliary Artery• Brachial Artery• Radial Artery– Lateral side or thumb side

• Ulnar Artery– Medial side or small finger side

• Deep & Superficial arches• Digital Arteries

Where do your common carotid arteries supply?

• External Carotid– It terminates by dividing into two branches, the

maxillary and superficial temporal arteries. • Supplies blood to the external areas of the head.

• Internal Carotid– Goes through the Foramen Magnus to the brain.• Supplies blood to the brain.

Where do the brain arteries get their blood supply?

• The Internal Carotid Arteries supply– Anterior Cerebral Arteries– Middle Cerebral Arteries

• The Vertebral Arteries Supply– Posterior Cerebral Arteries– Basilar Artery

What veins drain into thesuperior vena cava?

• The Right Brachiocephalic Vein– It is made of the Right Subclavian & Right Internal

Jugular Veins• The Left Brachiocephalic Vein– It is made of the Left Subclavian & Left Internal

Jugular Veins

Page 13: Arteries & veins of the upper body

Where do those veins come from?

• Internal Jugular– It comes from the neck and brain veins

• Subclavian– Comes from the right and left arms

Sections of the arm veins.

• Superficial Veins– Cephalic Vein– Median Cubital Vein– Basilic Vein

• Deep Veins– Brachial Vein– Radial Vein– Ulnar Vein

Where do the Jugular Veins come from?

• Internal Jugular Vein– Comes from the brain through the Foramen

Magnum• External Jugular Vein– Comes from the outer surfaces of the head
