This year’s theme is [FUSION]: the merging of artistic mediums, of exhibitors and collectors, and of the countless galleries and artists who come together to showcase their work. The theme informs each of Art San Diego’s special installations, talks, and events. Founded in 2009 as the first and only contemporary art show in San Diego, Art San Diego is highly regarded in the industry, attracting cutting-edge exhibitors and more than 15,000 attendees.

With presenting sponsor UBS Financial Services, the annual event features 60 publishers, galleries, and studios from around the world, showcasing over 500 talented established artists and their paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints, photographs, videos, and multimedia works.

This year’s move to a larger venue allows for more expansive exhibits and installations and convenient access and on-site parking for attendees from San Diego, Orange County, and beyond.

2017 Spotlight Artists

Kate Taylor (Kate Taylor Studio) is known for the abstracted versions of flowers, landscape, and seascapes she creates in her Toronto studio. Her work explores the unique forms and colors of nature and how they are an integral part of our lives, bringing contentment, grounding, and joy.

Lori Ryerson (Focalocity) lives in Toronto, and captures stories with a Panasonic Lumix mirrorless camera and interprets them into art. Whether printed on canvas, metal, or an older technique such as gum bichromate, the presentation of Ryerson’s photographs become as much a part of her artistic consideration as the composition.

Rose Tanner (Rose Tanner Fine Art) is an award-winning Canadian artist who focuses on birds. She studied oil painting with Daniel Keys as well as other contemporary master painters. A nature enthusiast, she travels widely for her

subjects and is active in supporting endangered birds and their habitat.

The LaunchPad Artist Program provides a young, unrepresented artist the opportunity to present a site-specific exhibition within the show. This program is open to up-and-coming artists who demonstrate exceptional talent in their field of work and who want to make art their career. The 2017 LaunchPad Artist is Mikaela McLeish, a San Diego-based painter known for her ethereal, large-scale oil paintings. McLeish’s work explores the tension that lies between isolation and connection, individual and society, and reality and dream.
