DEVELPOMENT OF SIMON

STORYBOARD

EXT. EMPTY SPACE - SPOTLIGHT

Clarette is sitting on a bench with Simon as a marionette on her lap, she is grooming Simon with her left hand hand and holding the control bar in the right hand.

A balloon floats in from out of sight and into view. Clarette does not notice but Simon turns his head to see the balloon.

Simon makes an attempt to grab the balloon. When an attempt from its original position fails he tries to move and push the constraints of the control bar.

Clarette yanks back and gives Simon a look of anger.

CLARETTENo!

Simon looks afraid and spends a couple of seconds complying

Simon tries again with all his strength. Clarette begins to increasingly show fear alongside her previous anger with each exertion of control.

CLARETTE[Harsher tone]No!

Simon looks down, feeling ashamed. Clarette feels guilty.

Clarette gives a sigh after looking at the balloon and Simon feeling miserable. She removes a pair of scissors from her handbag and cuts each string oen by one.

Simon's string-cut body parts go limp until he collapses to floor.

Clarette watches with hands on knees and smile on face as Simon struggles to stand up, He wobbles on his first attempts and his legs still wobble as he stands up fully.

Simon reaches for balloon and grabs it after much effort. He begins to lift off the ground.

As Simon ascends, he holds hands with Clarette, as he ascends further his hand slips from hers and the world shifts around her

INT. AIRPORT TERMINAL - DAY

Clarette blinks as she realises she is in an airport

terminal. Simon, now a young man holding his passport, his luggage next to him and a guitar slung behind his back.

SIMONI'll be fine, mum.

Clarette takes a moment and stands up.

Clarette nods slightly and the two embrace in a loving hug.

CLARETTE[beat]I'm proud of you.
