Damaged in both the 1906 earthquake and the Loma Prieta earthquake of 1991, the Cantor Arts Center is a testament to architectural and artistic resurrection.

Conducted in harmony by the

project team, Stanford’s new

Bing Concert Hall is

composed with state-of-the-

art acoustic design. To create

the stunning 844-seat hall,

each design element was

evaluated by acousticians to

ensure the world-class sound

quality. Keeping that in mind,

the space’s concrete drum

shell shape serves two

purposes: not only does it

isolate the concert hall from

noise and vibration, but

Degenkolb also designed it

as the structure's seismic

lateral system. We designed

the intricate secondary

structural system that

supports the sail and cloud

acoustical panels as well as

rigging, lighting, and access

systems. In a symphony of

efficiency with labor and

materials, the team

constructed the primary

gravity steel frame supporting

long span roof trusses first,

then followed with shotcrete

concrete formed with

permanent metal stud

framing retained for use as

the final interior wall

framing. Upon completion,

melodious sounds will

emanate from Stanford’s

unique signature project.

talented body painting artists in the

In the past year Pashur has taken his

career in art to a new level thru a series

of books and tools for face and body

painters that have revolutionize the

way we see and understand our art

forms. His on the road seminars and

workshops continue to be highly

praised by all who attended.

"Body art" is a new art gallery opened last Monday, located in the heart of Santiago. This new space for art, all art exhibits related to human anatomy, whether photography, painting, dance, body expression samples, etc.
