Emily Carr -War Canoes

This is great painting of canoes that really stand out from the rest of the painting. Emily Carr named this painting war canoes at Alert Bay. This painting was made in 1945. This painting like all others was done with oil paints .This piece is about canoes that look very war like because of all the pint on the sides of the canoes. I liked this painting because the canoes stood out in a good way with lots of complex green and lots of shades of blur

Emily Carr -Metchosin

Emily Carr uses lots of shades of green in this painting and some trees are also blue. This painting was finished by Emily Carr in 1936. This painting is of the forest close to Metchosen. I really liked the way the trees looked being blue and lots of different green. I don't like how there is like a half pipe in the centre. I think it takes the character out of the painting. There were also lots dull colours like green and blue.there were also lots of cold colours.

This Piece was made in 2009 By Ross Penhall. This was Done well except I thought some trees were 2d and 3d. I also thought there was a big shadow if you turned around. Oils were used very well to show colour and lots of yellow green. This scene looked cold because of the sky.

Ross Penhall -On the Field

I like this oil painting done in 2007 by Ross Penhall. Again he shows 2d and 3d trees. I like this painting because its not that plain but it is a nice clearing and trees all around. There were dark green coloured trees but one yellow green tree in the middle that stood out because it was the only bright colour.

Robert Bateman - The Return

Robert Bateman, a very famous artist using acrylic paints, paints a eagle landing on its nest. This was only done in 2001. I think this painting is really well done and I like how he uses texture to feel like your really there. He used dark colours that were a mix of black and brown.

Robert Bateman - Dozing Lynx

In 1987 Robert Bateman made this painting of a lynx. I thought it was a photograph but Robert Bateman used acrylic paints to make this painting really textured. I really like how every thing blends in and when I look at it my eyes go to the lynx first. I like how he uses dark white for the lynx and white for the trees.
