What you need...

The studio is well equipped with easels and lovely objects to set up for your painting subjects,we have a rich resource of reference books and art publications for inspiration, tea, coffee, hot chocolate and cakes and biscuits...what else could you need but:

• a set of 30 assorted good quality pastels to get you started(Pastels can be purchased from the studio at very competitive prices)

• Yarka Sauce Drawing Pastels-greys and browns(only available from the studio)

• Art Spectrum (AS) Flinders Blue Violet (very dark)• AS Flinders Red Violet (very dark)• AS Australian Grey• AS The whole set of Raw Umbers• AS Burnt Umber (P)

• Conte Crayons in various dark colours:dark brown, sepia, sanguine, black, and assorted greys

• Willow charcoal sticks ( thin and long)

• A sheet of AS Elephant Grey Colorfix Paper• A sheet of AS Soft Umber Colorfix Paper

• Workable Matt Fixative

• Wet-ones or similar (the cheaper the better)

What you will be doing...After some initial drawing instruction and practice, you will move onto painting a still-life from life using pastels. In this way you learn to apply in a practical way, all the theory we cover in a painting.At each lesson you will receive written notes and assignments to help with your progress and in the congenial class environment you will learn a great deal from the other artists as they work and discuss and solve their problems.

On top of all this...you make some great friends and you get the opportunity to enter a sanctuary for painters away from all the pressures of life outside the doors. Welcome!

Leoni Duff is an experienced teacher of pastel painting and has been invited to tutor for art societies around Australia includingthe McGregor Art Schools USQ.Leoni is also an accomplished professional artist and has won many national awards for her work.Leoni's background in teaching enables her tohelp her students reach their potential regardlessof their previous art experience.
