Materials

•4” x 4” Color Paper•2” x 2” Color Paper•Squares•White Glue•White Color Pencil•Ruler•11” x 11” Black Construction Paper

Step 1: X

Using a ruler and white color pencil draw a small “X” in the middle of the paper.

Use the corners of the paper as a guide.

Step 2: Squares

Select three different colors of 4” x 4” paper.

Take eight pieces of each color for a total of 24 pieces.

Step 3: Folding

Set one square of color paper on flat surface.

Folding Continued

Fold bottom corner up to top corner.

Fold bottom right corner to top corner.

Fold bottom left corner to top corner.

Repeat these steps with remaining pieces.

Step 3: Assembly

Pick two folded pieces of the same color and fit inside the “X” on paper.

Use a small dab of white glue on the back of each piece.

Assembly Continued

Pick a new color to fill in the rest of the “X” on black background.

There will be no black paper showing in between the first four pieces if they were folded correctly.

Whichever color has not been used in the center will be used to insert inside each of the first four pieces.

Make sure pieces stick out a little from previous piece so colors show.

Using remaining pieces begin to create patterns out of colors.

Continue to use small amounts of glue on back.

Pieces can also be put in empty corners by lightly lifting up pieces and setting underneath.

It is important to make sure pieces put on paper in this way point to the corners of black paper.

All 24 pieces will be used to create the flower.

Step 4: Center and Finish

Choose one color paper of 2” x 2” squares for center. Four in total.

Fold pieces just like others and glue to middle of flower.

Complete creation by selecting a large piece of color paper for a frame.
