SCHOOL ACTIVITIES FOR THE MONTH OF DEC 18 & JAN19

APS BIRPUR

1. Educative Session Mr Lalit Mohan Joshi, advocate and social activist, conducted a session

on “Drug addiction among teenagers” in school campus on 01 Dec 18. The session was very

interesting and unique as it emphasised on ‘Peer pressure’ in youth that leads to drug addiction.A

lot of queries too were answered and students were presented with certificates .The session was

very useful and productive as students had an opportunity to learned how to avoid drug addiction

and also learned what they can do if they are already addicted.

2. Parent Teacher Meeting PTM for classes I-XII was held on 01 Dec 18 as per schedule. The agenda was: (a) Expectations from students and parents. (b) Fee deposit procedure. (c) Holiday Homework. (d) Website-Almanac-Datasheet and Syllabus details. (e) Extra class schedule. (f) Empowerment classes. 3. Special Assembly Special assembly on “School Motto Day” was conducted in middle wing

on 08 Dec 18 where the motive was to remind the true meaning of school motto “Aspiring

Excellence, Preserving Value, Shaping Dreams” .The students depicted the motto with the help of

playcards and also explained it through speeches.

4. AAT Inspection 2017-18 The Annual Adm and Technical Inspection for session 2017-

18was carried out on 21 -22 Dec 18. The team members were Presiding Offs Brig HS Sandhu,SM

Comdt 14 GTC ,Col JP Singh (Retd)Addl Dir(AWES) HQ Delhi Area and Mrs Gitanjali Kachari

Principal, APS, Clement Town along with two Staff Officers from Comdt 14 GTC. They visited the

entire school and observed with the working of the school. The Presiding officer expressed

satisfaction over the progress of the school and complemented the management for it. The

accounts were thoroughly checked and class room teaching observation was also carried out by

the Inspection Team. The team individually interacted with the students and witnessed the conduct

of morning assembly.

5. Budget 2019-20 School Administration and Management Committee meeting for budget

2019-20 was held on 10 Jan 18. It was presided by the Chairman of the school, Brig. RS Manral

.The Principal Mrs Bindu Sharma apprised all the members regarding the growth and development

that had taken place after last SAMC .She also enlightened the house regarding the achievements

of the school till date in the current session. She also presented the budget for the yr 2019-20. The

Chairman appreciated the efforts of APS Birpur team and the support by the parents.

6. 70thRepublic Day Celebration Army Public School Birpur celebrated the 70thRepublic

Day in the Junior Wing. The celebration started with the hoisting of the tricolour, singing patriotic song and the National Anthem and NCC Girls&Boys parade. The Principal Dr (Mrs)Bindu Sharma and other staff members were present to celebrate the moment.

7. Inter House – Christmas Carol and Patriotic Song Competition On 07 Dec18 the Inter

House Christmas Carol and Patriotic Song Competition was conducted successfully in order to

develop confidence and love for music in children. The feet tapping Christmas carols and the

goose bumps giving patriotic songs were cherished by all.

8. IMA Passing Out Parade The students of class X & XI witnessed the magnificent passing

out parade rehearsed on 06 Dec 18.They were accompanied by their class teachers. The students

enjoyed the parade thoroughly and were deeply motivated by the discipline and perfect

synchronization of the IMA cadets.This instilled the zeal to join armed forces and serve the

motherland.

9. Annual Sports cum Awards Ceremony APS Birpur celebrated its Annual Sports Day

entitled, 'Kadam- a step towards success and sustainability' on 28 and 29 Dec 18. This two day

extravaganza was declared open by the Chief Guest Chairman Brig RS Manral present along with

Mrs. Geetanjali Manral the first lady of the Brigade. It commenced with a wonderful display of

‘MarchPast’ by the senior students. The mascot, 'Samrat', in the form of a peacock was grandly

unveiled through a beautiful dance by students wherein the feathers displayed the SDGs

(Sustainability Development Goals). On day 2 in the award ceremony segment 12th board toppers

and their mentors were felicitated by the chief guest Mr.Ranber Singh RO, CBSE Dehradun

region. Rohini Sharma (XII Humanities) and Pranav Thapa (XII Science) were awarded the

Patron's Trophies for academic excellence and excellence in the field of sports respectively. In his

address to the gathering, Mr. Ranber Singh emphasised on the role of parents and teachers in

shaping a child's life and the need to educate the girl child so as to make her self- reliant. He

advised parents to keep children away from social media and mobile phones and build stronger

bonds with them.This event emphasised on' No Garbage and No Wastage' to promote

sustainability. The cultural show was a big hit among the audience.

10. Know Your Army Mela, 2019. In an effort to raise awareness among the local population about the Indian Army, ‘Know Your Army Mela’ was organised on 18 Jan19. The

mela exhibited not only the display of weapons and counters for recruitment but it also included the counters of the Army Schools in the town along with cultural programmes. APS, Birpur enthusiastically participated in ‘Know Your Army Mela’. The children performed a mesmerising dance and sung AWES song they were acknowledged for the same. The performance by the children received high praises from the audience. Another attraction of ‘Know Your Army Mela’ was the stall set up by APS, Birpur.

11. Navy Quiz The Navy Quiz was conducted on 1 Dec 18 on the occasion of “Navy Day “ at

Navy hydrograph office Rajpur Road, total of 23 students accompanied by their mentor Mrs Neetu

Uniyal School Quiz coordinator witnessed the quiz along with Sakshi of XII D and ManasThapa

of VII C participated in the quiz .

12. Bajaj Institute of Learning 43 students of class VIII along with class teachers Mrs Aarti

Sharma and Ms Disha Sharma went to winter carnival at Bajaj institute of learning on 09 Dec

18.There was a dance competition in which 9 schools participated from APS Birpur 12 students of

Junior wing performed “Bihu Dance” and secured 3rdposition and received a trophy. There were

many workshops like of waste warriors, different food stalls, games, face painting etc. It was very

inspiring as the children conversed with sign languages and learnt a lot there.

13. Prize Distribution On 08 Dec 18 declaration of the “student of the month certificate and

well turned out students for the month of Nov was done. The students who cleared round 1 of

‘Discovery School Super League’ were also awarded with school bags which were given by byju’s

14. Periodic test & Unit test II /Pre Board I Cl X & Pre Board II Cl XII PT II & UT II

started from 17 Dec -24 Dec 18 and PB I of class X started from 17 Dec -26Dec 18 and Pre board

II for class XII were held from 17 Dec- 28 Dec18.

15. Khel Mahakumb District Handball Championship APS Birpur students U-14,17 &19

(Boys/Girls) participated in khel Mahakumb District Championship in which APS student were

rewarded with cash prize of Rs500 with certificates.

16. BYJU’S-“The Learning App Byju’s the learning app which encourages the children to

rise up and to make them competent they also conducted competitive exam for children in Sep.

Shubham Singh Rana of CL-VI B and Rishab Jain of CL-IX E of APS Birpur won the prizes in

round 1 and were selected for round 2 and were presented tabs from Byju’s. Two more students

Sangeeta of CL-IX D and Arnim of Class IX D had participated individually and they have also won

Tabs.

17. Kick Boxing National Championship 8 students from the school participated in National

Kickboxing Championship which was organised by WAKO(World Association Kick Boxing) at

Maharana Pratap Stadium on 02 Jan -06 Jan 19 in which 23 states participated, APS Birpur won 1

silver & 2 bronze medals.

18. World Boxing Championship Ms Durga Thapa APS Birpur Boxing Coach participated in

World Boxing Championship as technical officer for Indian Team from 15 Nov-24 Nov 18 at Delhi .

19. Khelo India Ms Durga Thapa APS Birpur Boxing Coach participated in KHELO INDIA at

Maharastra, Pune and represented as an INDIAN REFREE & JUDGE.

20. SOL Quiz League School Quiz League organized National Level quiz at Jalandhar in

Lovely Professional University on 19Jan 19 After winning State Level, the Junior team comprising

Manas Thapa Cl- VIII C and Suraj Kumar Cl - VII C, represented Uttrakhand at National Level.

There were 22 top teams all over India for the finals in which top 6 teams reached to final round.

APS Birpur bagged forth position in the quiz and the team was prepared under the guidance of Ms

Neetu Uniyal Quiz Coordinator.

21. EX Student Sumit Kumar Tripathi Joined INA (Indian Navy Army) on 4 jan 2019.
