I would like to sincerely invite everyone to attend ArkSHA 2015! Our theme this year, “Portraits of Success,” focuses on highlighting the varying areas of the Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology professions. This will be accomplished by providing relevant session topics that will attempt to further your knowledge base, no matter

where you have chosen to serve. Featured presentations will be offered for those working in early intervention, up to those providing services to the geriatric population. We recognize that our chosen profession has a variety of persons served, and it is our goal that you leave ArkSHA 2015 with something that can be used at work the next Monday morning. ASHA, ABESPA, and ADE credit will be available for attendance, as well as AAA credit where appropriate.

ArkSHA 2015 will again be held in Little Rock, AR, with continued use of the folders that were provided last year. These will contain session evaluations, as well as your certificate of participation. If handouts are provided by the speakers, these will be available to print or purchase.

This convention was only made possible by a team of hardworking individuals, and I would like to acknowledge them for all of their hard work. Thank you so much for attending ArkSHA 2015! We can’t wait to show off your success story! Robyn Smith, M.S., CCC-SLP

CALL FOR 2015 ArkSHA STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS

As the 2015-2016 academic year approaches, one of the greatest stressors for many students enrolled in Communication Sciences and Disorders graduate programs is figuring out how to pay for their education. You don’t have to look far to find headlines about how the cost of higher education has significantly surpassed that of inflation over the past two decades. The reality is that numerous students enrolled in CSD graduate programs are dealing with financial stress on a daily basis.

For one ArkSHA graduate student member, some of the rising costs will be offset by receiving the 2015 ArkSHA Scholarship. To be considered for this award, the applicant must be enrolled in a Communication Sciences and Disorders graduate program in Arkansas, and be an Arkansas resident. Additional and more specific guidelines can be obtained from the following link on the ArkSHA website: www.arksha.org

The deadline for the receipt of application materials is October 1, 2015.

For more information, please contact ArkSHA at (501) 244-0621 or [email protected]
