Hello Chapter Members! We have had an exciting summer as a chapter. The National Forum in

Salt Lake was a great learning and team building event. It was fantastic to see so many of our

members in attendance this year. We fell short of the goal of being awarded Chapter of the

Year but we were awarded the Chapter Excellence in Membership Recruitment, Retention and

Engagement. We will beat them next year in Nashville.

Nominees for Chapter Vice President and Secretary have been set. Keep your eyes open for the

ballot in early October. The election results will be announced during the Regional Conference

and Expo.

Speaking of Regional, we now have sold 108 booths for the Vendor Expo. Flyers are posted on

the website for the membership to distribute to their customers. Attendance to the Expo portion

of Regional is free of charge. If you have not registered yet, please do so.

I sincerely hope that the Chapter is meeting your needs as a member. As always, please feel

free to reach out to me with any questions, comments or concerns.

Sincerely,

Joe Guy, CPPB

AZNIGP Chapter President

MEMBER BIRTHDAYS OCTOBER

17

Fun ways to celebrate employee birthdays!

Special Treat. Everyone deserves a treat on their birthday! Make sure to find out what the employee

likes—whether it’s chocolate chip cookies, a candy bar, or cake.

Decorate their desk. What better way to show employees you’re thinking about them on their birth-

days than to show up to the office early and really decorate that person’s desk? Go all out! Be creative

with some surprise decorations.

A note from the whole team. A birthday is a great time to show how much the employee means to the

organization. Instead of a generic birthday card, have colleagues write a few sentences about the employ-

ee’s contributions and what they like most about working with that person.

Give them a gift card. A simple, low-key way to celebrate an employee’s birthday is by giving them a

gift card. Just make sure it’s something they’re interested in first before you purchase.

Take them out for a meal. Suggest that you take them out for lunch or dinner at the restaurant of

their choice. Bring along some coworkers too so that everyone can join in the fun.

Give them the day off. Some employees may not be interested in celebrating their birthday at work,

instead choosing to be around family. Or your employee just might need a day off to recharge their bat-

teries. Whatever the case, offering a personal day for this once-a-year event is something employees will

appreciate.
