The Grand Canyon is a colorful, steep-sided gorge, carved by the Colorado River, in northern Arizona. The canyon is one of the seven natural wonders of the world and is largely contained in the Grand Canyon  National Park   one of the first national parks in the United States. Saguaro Cactus at Sunset,Az. You’ll find cacti of every size and shape in the state’s desert areas, while thick green forests create canopies filled with mountain creatures in higher elevations. The state flower is the white blossom of the saguaro, the largest cactus in the United States. The saguaro  blossoms appear on the tips of the long arms of the cactus during May and June.  Bisbee, AZ. The most impressive thing in town is  probably the enormou s open pit copper mine (no longer active) which you can't help but notice. Bisbee is actually in the mountains whereas most of the t owns in Southern Arizona are in the wide valleys between them. As a result its buildings are crammed into a tiny buildable little valley. The Wave is a sandstone rock formation. It is famous among hikers and  photographers for its colorful, undulating forms, and the rugged, trackless hike required to reach it. Grammar  Adjectives Adjectives are words that describe or modify another person or thing in the sentence. An adjective adds information on number, colour, type, and other qualities to your sentence. Ex: Cold weather, large windows, violent storms, and  purple flower.  - Position of Adjectives Where do you find adjectives? Most of the time, you find them in front of the word they’re describing. Adjectives describing nouns: the most common  job for an adjective is describing a no un. Ex:  But Central Arizona has more to offer than the big city   like hiking trails and casinos near Fountain Hills and Fort McDowell. Adjectives describing pronouns: Adjectives can also describe pronouns (words that substitute for nouns). When they’re giving you information about pronouns, adjectives usually appear after the pronoun they’re describing. Ex: When Arizona's nature comes to flora and fauna, it’s difficult to beat the diversity because of its beauty.  - Identifying Adjectives To find adjectives, go to the words they describe  nouns and pronouns. Start with the noun and a sk it three questions. How many ? / Which one? / What kind? Warning! A common error changes nouns into adjectives    improperly! The word quality, for example, is a noun meaning worth, condition, or characteristic. Some people use quality as an adjective meaning  good or luxurious. Grammatically, you can’t buy a quality television. You can buy a high-quality television. Warm-up! The most colorful part of Arizona’slong history is in the late 19th

century during the glory days of the

Wild West. Between the Civil War 

and the dawn of the 20th century,the country’s rowdy teenage years

left a lasting impression that is stillfelt worldwide. This transition from

a "wild" western frontier intoorganized segments of a federal

union is documented in

 photographs. Then, Arizona is the48th state and last of the

contiguous states to be admitted tothe Union, and it achieved

statehood on February 14, 1912.
