Enrolling in Christianity is not _____ ____.

The Big Question:

1. Whoever wants to be my disciple must:

2. Whoever wants to be my disciple must:

3. Whoever wants to be my disciple must:

For this coming week:

• Read Luke 9:18-27 again this week. After being in worship, what seems to speak to you now?

• How has living as a disciple been difficult for you?

• How has living as a disciple been rewarding?

• “Who do you say I am?” How can you respond to Jesus this week?

• Can you think of giving your answer in three actions this week?

Opening Faith! Pastor Andrew Ross

Life Group Questions to Consider

Use these questions as guidance to help get the discussion rolling when you meet with your REACH Life Group

Scripture: Luke 9:18-27

CONNECTION:

Share any God glimpses you think you’ve had this last week?

Play a quick High/Low Game: Name one high point you had this week; name one low point.

OBSERVATION:

What are the ‘Messiah Events’ you notice before and after Luke 9:18-27? What insights are found from the surrounding context of this scene that seems to speak to you?

What is Jesus warning his friends about?

What is an observation and question you have from this intimate scene of Jesus with his disciples? INTERPRETATION:

How would you interpret and explain what it means to ‘take up your cross daily?

Did Peter fully understand his own answer at v20? How do you think he was able to answer Jesus?

What are the implications for disciples of Christ today as we listen to Jesus’ explanation of commitment and sacrifice?

APPLICATION:

What are your ideas about confronting the self-fulfillment, YOLO humanism we see around us?

What could be a spiritual step you could take this week to re-open or renew, your faith in Jesus?

Close in prayer by praying for our church and its faithfulness and service in Christ.
