Key sta~e 1 - Year 1 Formative assessment task. (Sprin~ 2) This task is designed to give year 1 teachers a snapshot of pupils knowledge, understanding and how they tackle maths questions. It will help you to see which areas need addressing with the class as a whole and those pupils that may need some targeted support. It could help inform your mental! oral starters over the next half- term, using them to recap ,revise and read questions of this type to ensure understanding. It may inform your guided group work in the daily maths lesson or your homework. It could also help when choosing pupils for specific intervention or G& T focus. The paper was drawn up using the TestBase software and level 1 material and is 24 questions long.lt would probably be best to administer in small groups with the teacher reading the questions, if needed. There are 2 questions per mathematical area - the first of which is a LEVEL 1a/b and the second a LEVEL 2c Areas of Mathematics 1,2 Ordering numbers 3,4 Properties of number - biggest! smallest 5,6 Addition 7,8 Subtraction 9,10 Money 11,12 Addition ! multiplication 13,14 Interpreting information 15,16 Properties of shape 17,18 Measure (length) 19,20 Time 21,22 Pattern & Sequence 23,24 Measure ( weight)
