Are You Homeless…

On the Internet?

Where do you call your home on the internet?

Are you just wandering aimlessly

around from one platform to

another trying to find the right fit?

Do you have control over

what happens where you call

home or does someone else

make all the rules?

Have you had problems finding a Home?

I’m sure you have.

Is there any place on the internet I can make my home and where I get to make

the rules?

I'm going to answer that question in a minute but, first a story.

The Parable of the Billboard

There was a guy, let’s call him Joe. You know just your average Joe, except he had a dream of sharing his delicious hamburger creations with the world, or at least the city where he lived. His friends all told him that he should open a restaurant. They always flocked to his house, anytime they heard that there was going to be a BBQ, to grab themselves a scrumptious mouth watering burger and see what his newest creation was.

One day while Joe was driving to his current job, contemplating his how he would make his dream of a hamburger restaurant a reality, when he saw a billboard for a fast food restaurant that served hamburgers.

If he could get himself a billboard,

and………(he’s thinking, hold on)…….. That’s it.

If he puts his restaurant on top of the billboard then everyone will see it and he will get a lot of people to his

business.

Great idea?

Nooo! It is a terrible idea.

As Jonathan Cronstad said “You wouldn’t put your fast food place on top the billboard”.

Think of the logistics. Who would want to climb up there every time they want a burger.

Wellll… that is what you and I have been doing to ourselves for ages trying to make our home on

YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.

Where can I make my home then? Is there another social platform that’s better?

Well, I will tell you.

I guess I’ve kept you waiting long enough.

Although it’s kind of fun to annoy you and make you beg just a little.

What is my new home? It’s my Blog.

Yes that is right a blog.

What? Why there?

Great question. Well remember when we talked about the fact that

we wanted a home where we could share our dreams and passions and where we get to set the rules? This is the place.

A word press platform gives you loads of options for decorating and entertaining you guests.

Even the New York Times, Forbes Magazine and Huffington Post have made their homes on a blog.

If they can do it why not you?

Am I Giving Up All the Hard Work I’ve Done So Far?

No!

Just like Joe shouldn’t build his restaurant on top of the billboard you shouldn’t build your home on a billboard either.

Your blog becomes you home where you decide who sees your posts and who you are going to promote to.

YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and all the others are just the billboards you use to direct people to finding you.

And where do they find you?

At home of course, on your blog.

So all the work you have put in and all the techniques you

have learned in all those other places are still valuable, but now those billboards will be

leading to your home.

Joe invited everyone to his home to try his new burger recipes to get them ready for when he opens his restaurant.

Now you will have a home to invite people to as well.

Ahhh… doesn’t it feel nice to not be homeless

anymore.

People Are Coming Over! I don’t even have furniture yet!

It’s ok. Don’t worry. Breathe… breathe. Grab a paper bag if you have to.

You’ll get through this in flying colors. You don’t have to invite them before you get the furniture in.

Now you have your brand new home it is so exciting. I know your dying to get decorating and get some furniture in before the house warming party, but first we have to check the foundation.

What I bought a home that doesn’t have a good foundation?

No, don’t have a heart attack.

What we need to do is to reinforce it so that it is as solid as a rock.

I going to share some great information that I learned from the “Blogging Deva”, Tracey Walker at a conference in Las Vegas recently.

She rocks it with her blog and

has made more than a

million dollars sharing

her passion with others.

B.L.O.G.

Don’t worry you’ll be ready. That’s why I’m here. To make sure your new home is ready for visitors.
