Creditors do all they can to collect money owed to them and one option they have is
a wage garnishment.
When a creditor garnishes your wages, the amount is automatically deducted from
your paycheque and sent to the creditor.
A creditor must file a lawsuit called a Garnishment Order.
If approved, a percentage of your paycheque is automatically deducted and sent to the court
for payment to your creditors.
If your wages have been garnished, you do have options.

If you have the financial resources to pay your debt in full, the garnishment order will be canceled.
Option #1: Pay Your Debt in Full

If you can prove to the court that a garnishment will create a serious financial hardship, they may reverse it.
If approved, the garnishment order would be reversed but you would need to make regular payments to the court to pay back the debt.
Option #2: Prove Financial Hardship

A consumer proposal or personal bankruptcy will provide legal protection from creditors.
Both options will put a stop to wage garnishment.
Option #3:Take Legal Action
