Within a developing high-tech park and adjacent to a university, this international school campus locating in suburb area of metropolitan city of Wuhan will provide K-12 study environment to 3 international schools: 1 English school and 2 French schools. Schools will have their own teaching building and share a small size theatre and a sports facility, as well as a academic size of soccer field acting as a buffer to isolate campus from outside. To accomodate 3 schools inside a tiny site with only one side adjacent to public road bring us first challenge of campus circulation.

Been built and put in operation as the sec-ond campus of United Nations International School, the Hanoi campus is looking for renovation with new campus planning and expansion of existing buildings. Redesign of library and the open plaza in front of it become the center of this renovation. Library complex consisted of three building blocks that accomodate school canteen as well, to provide source of knowledge and source of energy. Circular shape of UN plaza, corre-sponding to square shape of library, pro-vides a place of calm and serenity.

History of Campus Development
In many respects, the UNIS Hanoi campus in Tay
Ho District is young compared to many of their
international school counterparts of similar cali-
ber and reputation. While other well-regarded
international schools have steadily grown for
several decades and developed reactively in short
bursts of unplanned growth and decline, UNIS
Hanois current campus was planned just 5 years
after its founding as a purpose-built campus
to support 1152 students the same capac-
ity regarded as the schools target to this day
twelve years later. Although the construction was
phased, the majority of the physical campus was
constructed for opening day. Significant additions
thereafter included extensions to the Swimming
Pool, the Middle School High School Science
and Technology Complex, and finally the Arts
Building and Sports Centre.

Along with the redesign of campus master plan, in-dividual building complex for school level has been further redesigned as well. School courtyards pro-vide more than just a activity space, but also to host multiple types of event, such as banquet, lecture, performance, and so on. Pavilion and sculpture type of shade have also been introduced along with courtyard design. Lotus-like shade indicate the fea-ture of nature, while gable-roof pavilion is respond-ing to traditional vietnamese architecture.

Following the success of concordia inter-national school in Shanghai, a new Ha-noi campus is expected to open to bring academic model to southeast Asia, New campus is fairly small to accommodate three major programs: primary school, secondary school and a performing art center, as well as to have one academic size of soccer field for physical education.
Three phase of camps development has been designed and school can gradually fill up the capacity and still keep their flexibility. L shape academic bar wrapping common programs such as gym, dining, and large performing space provide a consistant language to keep whole campus together.

In 2012, Shanghai Conservatory of Music hold an international design competition and inviting 6 no-table design firms in the world, for two projects on existing site and future campus: Fenyang campus performance center and new Lingling campus. The design concept is derived from the combinations of traditional Chinese music instrument and symbol for music note, which provide variety of spatial ar-rangement to accommodate the functional needs for either an extension of main campus heart or a brand new higher education campus.

Shandong University Qingdao campus is a design competition hold in 2010 with 4 international notable firms in the finalist and Perkins Eastman won the competition in two rounds. Carrying the project into the constructible master plan phase, master plan clearly divide to 4 major areas linked by major axis running north-south through the whole site. With main academic area located at the heart of campus, living area flank on north and south end of campus with convention center and sports area adjacent to them. At the north and south end of main axis, there is performing arts center on the north and museum on the south; while at the end of cross axis cut-ting twhrough the center of campus, there is library and administration center. Taking advantage of sea shore location, campus own a long coverage of beach and marina, which bring this campus very unique char-acter stand on top of other higher educa-tion universities in China.

Brooklyn School of Music is seeking ideas to renovate their existing facility that need to accomodate more pro-grams while historical building shall be preserved as much possible. Consider-ing multiple design constraints, such as municiple code for building setback, facade preservation, program require-ments, as well as their preferred opera-tion model for multiple type of users: students, performers, and public.
Design starts with diagrammatic ap-proach and aim to resolve every issue with diagrammatic approach. With this quite experimental way, solution of spatial arrangment to accomodate
all requirements has been suggested. A series of transformation gradually shape the functional program from number to 3D space. By setting back volume, cut and divide space to acco-modate different functions of program, shift to separate circulation, building has been stack as a jenga puzzle. It is a fine practice to seek fully functional space with only diagrammatic ap-proach to test solution.
Project will be brought to further level with floor plan and building section testing. More elements will be inserted for further refinement.

Forming the southern portion of the Xiangya Health Valley site, the senior living area consists of active adult apartments, a continuing care retirement community (CCRC), and communal facilities. Active adult apartments range in height from 12 storeys to 26 storeys, gradually increasing in height the further away they are from the main municipal road. These apartments all share common facilities such as a kindergarten, satellite retail, and clubhouse, located centrally to apartment clusters and adjacent to the main access road. The CCRC facility services individuals with more intensive care needs and is separated into three zones (independent living, assisted living, skill nursing), all of which have access to enclosed exterior courtyards.

Located at the northern edge of the site and serving as the first point of focus for visitors, the research and development zone consists of three major portions: research labs and offices, conference center / health services management, and the multinational corporation future expansion zone. Organized around the slightly curvilinear form of the adjacent municipal road, the research labs and offices form a rhythmic procession which directs visitors towards the locus of the site delineated by an iconic structure which is the convention center/HSM combination. Parking and future expansion are masked by this screen of buildings, providing visitors with a seamless introduction to the entire zone.

Following the previous masterplan of Xiangya Health Valley, project scope has been revised and programs have been split to two par-cels; one site has 126 mu with town center, research center, senior living, hospital, and school, while the other site has 39 mu with CCRC program.
39 mu site is a highly restricted site that only one small corner of site adjacent to pub-lic road and at the center of site there is a unconstructible water area occupying over 50% of the site area. Preserving the water and plan program along the lake shore will be feasible and access better view and orienta-tion. Vehicular circulation will surround the buildings and lake to avoid traffic crossing.

126 mu is relatively flat site to accomodate more programs for research, health man-agement/ hospital, and senior living. Three major program components can be identi-fied and generate three phases of con-struction accordingly. Research and health management will be in the first phase prior to senior living in order to have service in place to serve residents later. Town center and school come after phase 1 to complete the daily and urgent service needed by senior. The rest of 4 towers of senior hous-ing will complete the whole planning on this site.

This is a residential interior remodeling project for a single person, and potentially can accomodate a couple as a small family. Originally built in 1980s, this is a two bed-room unit with only kitchen and bathroom. To convert old unit type to accomodate modern household space such as formal living and dining space, south facing master bedroom has its partition wall in between it and kitchen removed and to create a large open space with functions of kitchen, dining, living, and study. Introducing small bedroom concept from Frank Lloyd Wright, space has been traded from preserved bedroom to bathroom to create confortable size for basin area, while shirnked bedroom only keep function for sleeping.
