MetFab is a leading architectural metal fabrication expert. Our talented

craftsmen produce a wide variety of factory formed and field fabricated pro-

files that provide architects, designers, and engineers new and better ways to

bridge old problems with roofing, siding, and architectural detailing.

MetFab roofing systems, wall panel systems, cornices and column covers

are all designed with innovative locking systems that make field fabrication

and installation easier than ever. Although, it’s our “manufactured to order”

capabilities that make MetFab one of the most unique manufacturers in the

industry, MetFab prides itself on the ability to create, match, and/or design

systems to meet the building owner’s specific demands.

Our color palette includes both old favorites and new ones, appealing

to a wider, more diverse segment of the architectural/design community for

both the commercial and residential markets. Our MetFab color finishes are

among the best and most durable resin formulas on the market today, with

superior resistance to chalking, erosion, and industrial pollutants. These paint

systems are produced with reflective pigments to reduce cooling costs and

heat island affect.

In addition, property owners and designers should be pleased to know

that many of our products are sourced locally, utilize environmentally sus-

tainable qualities, and are recyclable.

MetFab is, and continues to be, a company that values its artisan skills and

The MetFab III is our latest commercial solution for low slope applications. Whether it is a reroof or new construction, this product will fill your needs. This 2" mechanically seamed panel is time tested and has a proven design.

MetFab III can be factory manufactured and shipped to the job, or site formed for continuous length panels. MetFab recommends that all end laps be eliminated by running full length panels from eave to ridge. The full length-mechanically seamed panel will ensure a weath-ertight installation. MetFab III is UL tested under the strict requirements of the UL 580 test and carries a UL 580 class 90 rat-ing for open framing at 5' spacing. FinisHes. The resin system in MetFab high performance finish Fluropon® is made up of 70% Kynar 500® or Hylar 5000® resin. The carbon/fluorine bond, which gives Kynar 500® or Hylar 5000® resin based coatings their stubborn resistance to chalking and erosion as well as their resistance to harsh airborne industrial and atmo-spheric pollutants, is one of the strongest chemical bonds known to man. The standard coating thickness of 1.0 mil will provide a lifetime of service. Additional coatings can be applied to meet ASTMspecificationD968,forfallingsandof100or230liters.Ifdesired, metallic, custom colors, high gloss, low gloss and Duranar XL systems can be produced. Contact manufacturer for pricing. MetFabpaintfinishesinclude:

trinar® (Fluoropolymer)MetFab Metals‘ standard colors are produced by Akzo Nobel and contain a minimum of 70% PvDF base resin with ceramic pigments. All colors are formulated to ensure consistent ap-pearance and quality. The Trinar system is applied over Akzo Nobel polyester primer in a minimum thickness of 0.2 mil and can be applied to either Galvalume® HD Galvanized or Alu-minum substrates. All topcoats are minimum of 0.8 mil of the Trinar® color choice. The reverse side is primer and a washcoat of 0.5 mil total dry film thickness.

drexlume®

MetFab offers a mil finished Galvalume® with a two-sided, clear acrylic finish that simultaneously aids roll forming without the use of lubricants and eliminates unsightly handprints or stains resulting from handling and storage. The acrylic finish dissolves naturally over a period of time, and when left as it is, allows for natural and even weathering.

MaTerial. Aluminum is produced to meet ASTM B 209 and is offered in 3105, 3003, or 5005 alloys. Galvanized steel is produced toASTMstandardA653Mandhasayieldstrengthof37KSIanda tensile of 52 KSI. Galvalume is produced to meet ASTM A 792. These products are tension leveled to produce the flattest product possible. Oil canning is an inherent trait of thin gauge metals. Stucco embossing may be utilized to help eliminate some of the visual appearance of oil canning. Copper, stainless steel, and terne coated stainless are also available. Please contact manufacturer for more information.

accessories. All MetFab trims, clips, and custom formed products are produced with CNC accuracy. This ensures that the lengths, angles, and dimensions are produced to exact specifi-cation. If you choose to fabricate your own trims, a full line of flat sheets are in stock. A flat sheet size of 48" x 120" with vinyl protection is standard. A wide range of clips are stocked to ensure proper attachment for your specific requirements.

Field FabricaTion. MetFab is one of the few manufactur-ers capable of providing both factory and field fabrication of its complete line of products. Field fabrication will produce a quality product as good or better than one manufactured in the plant. When panel lengths exceed 50', the chances of damage during

shipping and rooftop staging are great. Site fabrication eliminates product damage, shortages, and excess waste. All panels can be cut to exact field conditions and do not require extensive crating. Site fabrication will also allow for precise sizing of rake panels which ensures a watertight condition. Most importantly, site fabrication eliminates all end laps, the number one cause of metal roof leaks. MetFab recommends, where possible, that no end laps occur. With field fabrication, panel lengths up to 200' are possible.

TesTing and raTings. Many MetFab products are rated for wa-ter and air infiltration. Load spans and UL-90 certifications can be verified by registered engineers. System assemblies and construc-tion details vary and not all assemblies have been tested. Please contact our technical staff to answer your specific questions.

consideraTions. MetFab Cap Seam and Snap-On Batten panels must be installed with a minimum of 3/12 slope over solid substratewithMetFabunderlayment.MetFabSnap-On675, Snap-On 550, and Snap-On 400 panels are limited to 3/12 slope, but can be installed over open framing. For lower slope applica-tions, the Historic and MetFab III are the choice. Panels longer than 30' need to utilize sliding or non-restricting clips. Contact our technical department for proper clip spacing. The use of MetShield, a self-adhering, rubberized asphalt sheet membrane, will allow for a watertight installation, particularly in low slope and curved applications. MetShield should also be considered where ice and water backup can occur, such as eaves and valleys. When installing MetFab products and accessories, refer to the SMACNA architectural manual to ensure good sheet metal and roofing practices.

oil canning. MetFab utilizes top quality materials specifically designed for rollforming applications. Oil canning is naturally inherent in sheet metal, appearing as waviness in the flat portions of the sheet. All MetFab products are tension leveled to help mini-mize excessive oil canning. Oil canning is not grounds for rejec-tion. There are a few ways to help minimize this appearance, such as specifying narrower panels, utilizing stiffener ribs or striations, and/or specifying stucco embossed material.
