Exhibiting:

The exhibition is a retrospective of 75 works bya legendary Franco-Swiss painter Archiguillewho turned 75 this year.Archiguille is the founder of the School ofTransfiguration and is one of the few livingartists of the Montmartre Époque.Archiguille has exhibited in most major worldcities and his work graces prestigious muse-ums and important private collections.He was raised as knight «des Beaux-Arts» ofthe Russian Academy of Art in Moscow earlierthis year.

Russian Academy of Art was established in1757.This year the Academy celebrates 250th An-niversary.It is the most influential internationally ac-knowledged art institution in Russia.It is located on a very popular street in the cen-tre of Moscow (19, Pretchistenka).

Augustin François Guillecalled «Archiguille»

Probably the most talented painter of his gen-eration as announced by André Malraux(1901- 1976), Archiguille has long enjoyed aprestigious following among international pri-vate collectors and art connoisseurs.

Following a childhood during the war years inthe south of France Archiguille was drawn topainting, as a means of expression of hisdeeper emotions and experiences. He began,when at school, to be fascinated with the let-ters of the alphabet, which led in turn to foraysinto the oriental art of calligraphy. His timespent among the well-known painters of thatépoque in Montmartre, their mutual trials anderrors in experimenting with new mediums andtechniques and his meeting with GeorgeBraque were all key factors in the developmentof his works.In the years 1958 - 1967 Archiguille foundedthe school of Transfiguration – capturing of thespiritual or otherworldly vision of earthly thingsand the relaying of that sense of the mystical tothe viewer. He has moved from the pragmaticyoung figurative painter to the years of«sagesse» where the richness and emotionaleloquence of his works can only be comparedto the greatest painters of the 20th century.

His art works can be found in collections ofFrançois Mitterrand, Jacqueline Kennedy, CocoChanel, Ari Onassis, Barbara Bush, the Em-peror of Japan, the King of Morocco, SophiaLoren, Robert De Niro, the King of Spain,French Mission at the United Nations inGeneva, David Rockefeller and BarbaraStreisand.

His paintings grace some of the most presti-gious museums of contemporary art in theworld: Paris, New York, Chicago, Houston andTokyo as well as the Berheim Jeune Gallery inParis, Princeton University, Club 13 and theParisian Tuileries.

The magnanimous nature and dynamic per-sonality of François Archiguille has been welldocumented by Françoise Sagan (French pre-mier writer and intellectual).

He grew from a little known artist from Langue-doc in France into a cult figure on the Mont-martre with almost a fanatical following in theart world in Europe.

H O N O R S A N D A W A R D S2007 Archiguille was raised as knight «des Beaux-Arts» at the Russian Academy of Art

in Moscow. He is the Honorary Member of the Academy.2004 Nominated by Prince Albert, President of «La Croix-Rouge Monégasque» to be honored

during the annual Gala held in Monaco. Archiguille’s works are exhibited at the CharityGala de Croix-Rouge.

Russian Academy of Arts was established in 1757.This year the Academy celebrates 250th Anniversary.It is the most influential internationally acknowledged artinstitution in Russia.Archiguille became an HONORARY MEMBER of theRussian Academy of Art at a special ceremony held inJune 2007 at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior inMoscow.Since 1997 to the present Zurab Tsereteli has been apresident of the Academy. He is a world renowned artist,sculptor and designer best known for his public monu-ments located all over the world.One of the monuments was installed at the Palais Wil-son in Geneva. It is dedicated to the lost lives of theUnited Nations employees during the suicide-bombingsat the UN Office in Iraq in 2003.Tsereteli is actively involved in public activity as a mem-ber of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation andUNESCO Goodwill Ambassador. In 1999 Tsereteli estab-lished a Moscow Museum of Modern Art, the first one inRussia dedicated to contemporary art.
