ARC INDUSTRY TRANSFORMATION RESEARCH HUB: NANOSCIENCE BASED CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS MANUFACTURING (NANOCOMM) MONASH ENGINEERING As one of Monash University’s newest and most industry-focussed research hubs, our mission is to provide efficient, innovative and sustainable solutions for the construction industry. Our team of researchers are developing transformative technologies which will be in high demand for infrastructure projects. We are currently working with a range of groups, including high-tech enterprises, major engineering consultancies, large-scale corporations, peak bodies, and industry development associations. Our director, Associate Professor Wenhui Duan, is an expert in structural engineer- ing, high-tech concrete composites, nanomaterials and nanomechanics. In setting up the hub, he has brought together a world-class research team from across Australia, including knowledge leaders from eleven of Australia’s best universities. The hub will focus on four areas of research: • The fundamental molecular level, including nanoscale materials such as graphene. • The materials level, where individual elements are bound together. • The structure level, such as columns and beams. • The system level, which involves entire building systems, such as national road networks. We welcome enquiries from organisations wanting to partner with us as we strive to meet Australia’s infrastructure needs.
