AUTOMOTIVE HELMETS

Hirotake Arai started out in 1937 as a hat manufacturer before a decade later laying the foundations of Arai as premium helmet manufacturer. This he did by inventing a new way of producing helmet shells with heat formed resin. This technology granted Arai the first Japanese Industrial Standard safety helmet license in 1950 and two years on Hirotake supplied his first helmets to professional racers, establishing Arai as the choice of experts.

To this day innovation and race-developed technology are fundamental to Arai’s market leadership and the company is still family-owned, managed by Hirotake’s son Michio and his grandson Akihito Arai. Another continuing tradition is the hand making of each Arai helmet, being the only way to meet our stringent quality controle systems and meticulous attention to detail.

These elements form the core of Arai’s ability to meet and surpass legal standards and provide our customers with the comfort and reassurance to fully enjoy their bikes or cars on roads or race tracks around the world.

An Arai helmet is produced without the slightest compromise in quality. From the beginning we have been solely devoted to the art and science of designing and building one off the best helmets humanly possible. That is why every Arai is almost 100% handmade in Japan and every single helmet is individually inspected, not once, but at every step in the manufacturing process.

We are even able to trace back each and every helmet ever made to the craftsman who built it, because each helmet carries their individual signature of approval.

Arai has been the creator of numerous innovations that improved performance on the road and race track. Our passion for helmets makes us improve our crash helmets constantly, which results in new groundbreaking technology that serves our loyal clients worldwide. Some of the fruits of our R&D endeavors can be seen on these pages.

PED stands for Performance Enhancing Devices which consist of transparent spoilers for the front and back of the helmet to reduce buffeting and enhance general aerodynamic performance. The usage of PEDs depends largely on the type and aerodynamic characteristics of the racing car.

An ergonomically-shaped lever designed to open a closed visor by a fraction to create additional airflow into the helmet. The swivel is large enough to be operated with gloves on.

The Arai inner shell comprises three to five different densities, because the human head needs different shock absorbance in different areas. For the last 20 years, Arai is one of the few manufacturers in the world able to produce an inner liner with multiple densities as one single component.

The GP-6 RC and GP-Jet F come with Head And Neck Support (HANS) anchors pre-installed.

Arai has been at the forefront of car racing for many decades and to date many of the world’s top drivers competing in all racing disciplines from Formula 1, Le Mans series, WTCC to WRC wear our helmets.

The pinnacle of our car range is the GP-6 RC car racing helmet. The GP-6 RC meets SNELL SAH2010 and FIA8860-2010 rules applicable in Formula 1, GP2, F2, F3 and the World Touring Car Championship.

The carbon fibre GP-6 RC incorporates the very best Arai technology to meet the FIA 8860-2010 standard. Arai is very proud that the GP-6 RC is the first XL sized helmet to meet this stringent FIA standard, alongside the already approved smaller sizes.

The new GP-6 RC is the obvious choice for drivers competing in Formula 1, GP2, A1 GP, FIA GT, WTCC and other classes where the FIA 8860-2010 regulations apply.

The new GP-6 RC comes with a clear anti-fog visor, tear-off package, extra set of ventilation ducts and of course fitted HANS anchors and all obligatory FIA labels.

The successor of the much loved GP-5K model comes with Snell and FIA 8858-2010 approvals. The cLc outer shell uses much of the GP-6 RC technology and styling.

The GP-5W comes without a visor but with the adjustable ‘hyper T’ peak to satisfy the requirements of even the most demanding touring car drivers.

Perfect for closed cockpit car racing, the open face GP-Jet F combines great comfort with the essential performance features of our full face helmets.

The CK-6 is a brand new helmet specially made for junior Kart drivers up to 15-years old. It meets the SNELL CMR 2007 regulations valid from January 1st 2010 in CIK-FIA international karting classes.

Our accessory line-up can further enhance the performance of your Arai helmet. We offer a wide variety of coloured visors, Pinlock anti-fog insert lenses or tear-offs for racing or track riding. Coloured visors are available in all the essential tints to meet any weather condition, from sun, rain to foggy conditions. Some of our visors will also enhance the look of the helmet such as the smoked or mirrorised finishes.

The GP-6 PED is very similar to the GP-6 RC, but with a Super Complex Laminate Construction (SCLC) outer shell, and it complies with the FIA 8858-2010 regulations. The clear Performance Enhancing Devices (PED) spoilers offer added stability and resistance against buffeting.

Not all models might be available in all markets. For the latest overview visit araihelmet.eu.

The SK-6 is largely base on the GP-6S, but is specially developed for kart racing, including a larger visor aperture which is essential in karting.

Arai’s spare parts service is of a quality standard that you would expect from such a premium brand. We stock parts to service any helmet in our range, including special editions, so you need not worry if your Arai is a few years old as we will always be able to take care of it, even up to seven years after the production date. Our distributor and dealer network is fully equipped to repair light damage, customize your helmet with interior parts and respray it if the paint is damaged.
