ARABOSAI RWGEA Background

➢ The Working Group on Environmental Auditing of the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit

Institutions (ARABOSAI) initiated its work in May 2009.

➢ 13 meetings were held of which three Work Plans were approved. The Work Plans were fully

achieved ( 2010-2012 & 2013-2015 & 2016-2018(, 2019 is a transitional year and the 2020-2022

plan is under preparation.

➢ The ARABOSAI Working Group on Environmental Auditing consists Nine Countries as

members: Jordan, Iraq, Kuwait, Yemen, Tunisia, Oman, Palestine, Egypt and Mauritania.

➢ The 4th Environmental Auditing Committee meeting was held in HashemiteKingdom of Jordan during the period 9-12 September 2019 with theattendance of 7 members and the General Secretariat.

➢Complete developing the basics of cooperative auditing mission entitle

“Assessing the efficiency and effectiveness of related authorities performance of in reducing air pollution”

Audit time range: 2017 – 2019 Audit Mission Period: 6 months

Audit Objectives:

1. The adequacy and efficiency of legislation, policies, regulations, programs and procedures relevant toaddressing air pollution.

2. Assessing the problems and constraints facing related authorities in reducing air pollution.

3. Evaluate the performance and efficiency of related authorities in reducing air pollution.

➢Organizing a competition for specialized articles on the following topics:

1. The role of environmental auditing in supporting and achieving the SDGs.

2. Improving the quality of environmental auditing using Six Sigma as a continuous improvement method.

➢Organizing a workshop entitled "Climate Change" aimed to present latest practicies & knowledge in the field of SDGs Auditing.

Develop proposal for the 2020-2022 Action Plan2

➢ The proposed plan include the following:

1. Cooperative audit mission entitled "Evaluation of the efficiency and effectiveness of the performance of the concerned authorities to combat desertification"

2. Organize workshops and articles competitions in the field of audit on combating desertification, climate change, SDGs, & effects of the Big Data on audit methodology.

➢ It was agreed that the activities & achievements of the transitional year 2019 will be included

in the report of the 2020-2022 work plan.

Discussion of the proposal to amend the scope of the Committee to become the Committee of Sustainable Development and the Environment Auditing

➢The committee developed a amended bylaw

proposal to go along with the changes in

committee's scope to include audit of sustainable

development issues. Amendments will be

submitted for discussion and approved at a meeting

13th ARABOSAI General Assembly that will be held

in Qatar during November 12 — 14, 2019.
