AQUAXTREMTM is obtained from the roots of rhubarb (Rheum rhaponticum).
We used an in silico screening to evaluate and select rhaponticin, a molecule present in rhubarb that acts as a natural agonist of PPARγ.
AQUAXTREMTM works from the inside, stimulating hydration mechanisms of the skin, through the activation of PPARγ
By activating PPARγ, receptor that controls gene expression of different cells, AQUAXTREMTM:
1) Boosts keratinocyte differentiation 2) Stimulates barrier function and skin hydration from the inside
As years go by, keratinocyte movement slows down and skin becomes dry, weak and aged
Hydration is key
The skin has mechanisms and structures designed to maintain the hydration:Cutaneous barrier Natural moisturizing factor (NMF)
Keratinocytes, during the differentiation process, are responsible for the production of elements of these structures, such as:

In-vitro efficacy
Rhaponticin (RH 5) increases production of barrier lipids, thus protects the body and avoids skin dehydration.

Effects of rhaponticin on human epidermal keratinocytes were analysed to prove its capacity of modulating filaggrin and involucrin production, key elements for stratum corneum.

Improvement of barrier function
Recovery of skin hydration
AQUAXTREMTM reduces water loss (TEWL) repairing the barrier function.
